Season 4 of the Golden Era...

This is definitely the year to show us something. Get blown out in any games this year (barring serious injuries on the roster), and the corch name tag becomes a tattoo.

Not expecting a true freshman to win 10+ games isn't some excuse for Golden or however you want to frame it. Just the reality, in my opinion.

There is plenty of talent on offense, no doubt. Best case scenario is he doesn't make too many mistakes and distributes the ball effectively. Worst case, Heaps is starts is the 3rd quarter.

Recruiting at QB is a fair criticism - maybe. Prior to Williams injury I was on board with Williams starting. Kaaya was highly touted, Olsen was highly touted, there are two QBs down the pike coming in that are highly touted.

Just a ****ty situation to have to start a true freshman this year. It is what it is.
Golden is one of the safest coaches I have seen. If he didn't believe Kayaa could guide us he wouldn't have gave him the nod. He said himself experience would win out if it was close. It didn't. So Kayaa is special.

People can't have it both ways: say that Golden is doing a good/great job, that the program is moving forward, the talent upgraded and then not expect something big in season 4.

Again, I'm still firmly in Golden's corner, but he's in a results based industry.

Personally, I know this team isn't perfect( but then, which squads are), but I like this roster

The QB and the OL make it tough for me to get too ahead of myself, which is a bit scary when it's our defense that's killed us. But when you look at our schedule and conference, also the "hope" that Kaaya is not your run of the mill freshman, my optimism peaks up again. I don't see much in our way. When people start picking Pitt as a team that could surprise our conference, that really puts things in perspective. Not many teams are without holes, it's just tough to really expect anything when the QB is one of them. We haven't been blessed with great QB play over the years but at the same time we have had familiar faces at the spot for a while. It's the first time in a bit where we basically go on nothing. Even Jacory as a frosh was well known to everyone in South Florida for years.

Hold on to your butts.

Our expectations are not unrealistic. We're not in the SEC or the Pac 12.

With the talent we have, a freshman QB isn't a valid excuse to NOT win the ****** *** COASTAL division.

Let's be clear, that's the goal. I don't expect miracles, an undefeated or 1 loss season...or anything along those lines. We should absolutely, positively win the coastal in the 4th year of ANY regime.

Anyone saying otherwise is simply attempting to hedge the inevitable.....which is that we will find a way to lose a game or two this season which we have no business losing.

Year 4, win or GTFO.

Anything less than 10 wins and a birth into the ACCCG will be a disappointment.

I might be able to live with 9-3 if I see real improvement as the season goes on and the unit we play opposite the other team's offense actually resembles a real D-1 defense. I cant imagine many scenarios where 8-4 is tolerable.

I dont expect huge things this year but 2015 on is going to be awesome the way we have been recruiting.....keep the faith

Expecting a true freshman to win 10+ games is absurd at this point.

Already getting hit with the freshman QB excuse and we aint even played a game.

It's funny...but expected. I was calling for this to be the new battle cry for the Don Bailey Jr Jr's the second Williams (who in no way is a superstar either) went down.

The cloud will get brought up again at some point as well, give it some time to marinate.

If it's unfair to expect a true freshman to win 10 games, would it also be unfair to expect a coaching staff to have recruited QB in such a way so as they don't need to rely on a true freshman QB to start, in year four of their tenure?

Spot on. I dont agree with you much, but you're absolutely correct.

I've been I guess what you call a "slurper" these last few seasons. In year 4, there is nor more ****** excuses. I want wins.

That's exactly it, it's all on Golden at this point.

Win 10 regular season games, win the Coastal, make significant progress defensively, either beat fsu once or give them the fight of their life, or...

DRUM ROLL!!!

GET THE FVCK OUT!

The time for hand holding and explaining away deficiencies is over. Get it done. Or get gone. These are modest goals I've set.

Those saying 10 games is unrealistic, have you seen how ****** the rest of the division is?

Freshman QB be dammed.

I think everyone is aware of the challenges the coaching staff has faced in the first 3 years. They certainly made a difficult job that much harder.

But I'm tired of hearing how that's the root cause for all this programs ills, and all other aspects of the coaching are conveniently swept under the carpet.

That said, maybe we weren't ready for prime time last year-- but no one here can convince me that the second half slide, the deplorable play down the stretch didn't have more to do with poor coaching than it did with talent and looming sanctions.

He's shown he's a decent recruiter-- and face for the program. I don't think he's done such a great job developing the talent or game-planning, or game day coaching.

Granted the likes of Saban, Meyer, et al weren't walking thru that dooer when Al took the job. But I have a hard time believing it would've taken those coaches 4 years to turn the program around and contend regardless.

There are numerous coaches & programs that have done more with less than Golden & company-- I think too many here make too many excuses for Golden. And place too much faith in him for what he's actually shown he can accomplish. I think he's in over his head and it shows on the field.

Year 4 means you can't talk about having a freshmans QB. He has a 5th year senior, but he opted for the true freshmans. His call. His roster. His team. Get it done time.

For the sake of full disclosure, here are my expectations for this season. I dare anyone to tell me any of these 3 aren't fair.

1. Win the ****** *** pathetically sorry COASTAL division.
2. See tangible improvement on the defensive side. As a basic guideline let's say a top 40 defense.
3. No blowouts in any of the losses we take this season, this includes and is specifically pointed at the FSU game. In year 4 we should be able to put up a **** of a fight, and if we do go down, go down fighting ON OUR HOME TURF.

Anyone who has an issue with one syllable of those 3 points....shoot yourself in the face.

Everyone knows I'm off the Golden bandwagon. If he accomplishes these 3 things I'll eat crow and shut up til next year. Otherwise...it's time to fly a banner. Full Anarchy mode....
