There’s a ton of stuff that Malik can improve upon, and it would be great if one of the young guns would just step up and take the job from him, but to focus almost exclusively on completion percentage on an already flawed QB, to the exclusion of almost everything else, is incorrect.

Accuracy is his Achilles heel and why I hope one of the young gunslingers starts to get “it”, but there is much more to being a winning QB.

Those games where Malik had pedestrian completion percentages but high QB ratings and W’s, were successes in my book, from the QB position. That’s indicative of a productive performance from your quarterback.

Let’s not completely trash the guy because you’re anxious for someone else to start.

Because I recognized that the defense had to mask a lot of his shortcomings. It's also not just his accuracy either. Rosier stares down his first read and doesn't know how to go through his progressions. He'd probably be better in that respect if he had gave a crap his first 3 years (he admitted he didn't even watch film). Also, being complacent when we had a perfect season on the line during the Pitt game did it for me. But you do you, bud.

Agree mostly. If he’s the guy he needs to improve in multiple areas. What he did the last 7 games in particular isn’t going to cut it though

Rosier's shortcomings as a QB aside, that comment is what turned the tide for me. Last season, he was clearly the weak link, but we were winning under him. Once we lost to Pitt in the manner that we did, where he was the catalyst, that should've been it.

Are we literally having a long-running thread debating on if Rosier's a decent QB and that can lead us to the playoffs? Please tell me there aren't people that are that dense. I'd rather ride out with one of the younger guys and go with the growing pains. With Malik, you have what you have - someone who's complacent that has no place doing so.

95 - 2015
82 - 2014
104 - 2013

Don't act like we just got bad on 3rd down or that it has a ton to do with Rosier. Our O-line sucks and has sucked. We can't consistently gain 3 yards when we try to run the ball on first down. We are consistently in 3rd and 7+.

I hope you're right. I liked Malik up until that moment. He was the underdog QB that was a gamer for the season until the Pitt game hit. Then he said he was going through the motions with a perfect season on the line after this program suffered in mediocrity for a little over a decade. How some aren't bothered by that is very baffling.

Wins is a team stat, but there is something to be said for the fact that the TEAM did WIN with him playing QB. They couldn't seem to with Kaaya. Or anybody else. You can make all the excuses in the world about "if this", "but the defense that", blah blah for months (which people probably will), but the results are the results. There is no question that he needs to get better, I have not seen one poster say that he doesn't, and if he doesn't he will lose his job.

It's fitting you use Jalen Hurts though as your example. When maybe the best coach of all time kept playing him until there was literally one half of football left in their season and they had no choice. I wonder why Hurts did start all those games???

Because Saban probably wanted to retain Tua's red-shirt. Once he saw Hurts wasn't doing crap against UGA's defense, he made the switch. With a national title on the line, you say fck a red-shirt.

Said this about 10 pages ago. Nobody is trying to say Rosier is great or even good. He was our best option last season. Might be this season. Time will tell. But I don't believe Shirreffs or Perry beat FSU. I don't believe we beat GaTech. I don't believe either of them have the ability to score 30 straight in the 2nd half to come from behind to beat Virginia. I don't think we survive a scrappy Syracuse team coming off their win over Clemson. And I think it's possible we drop the Toledo game with an unproven commodity after a 21 day lay off.

We close the season 7-5 to 5-7 and our recruiting class ranks around 25-30.

Kaaya wasn't free of criticism on this board. Our o-lines haven't been great the last few years, but Kaaya panicked anytime an ounce of pressure came his way.

Yep. He was a 60% guy who made all the easy throws for 3 quarters, but with the game on the line he'd over throw a receiver by 10 yards. Give me the 54% guy who can't hit the side of a barn in the first half, but doesn't fall apart with the game on the line.

Sweet Jesus Chrysler Plymouth, I've said it from when I joined here this fall; as a lifelong Hurricane fan, I must have missed something over the last two decades, like who the **** have these people been watching in a Miami uniform playing the position of QB, to be this **** rabid about the guy who led them to a 10-win season and the first Coastal title? Let alone doing it without his top three offensive players and a very average college O-line (and I played O-line in college). And the naysayers never mentioned the dropped passes - maybe a momentum shift if #4 Thomas hangs on to that 50 yard throw in the ACC Title game. Not the best thrown ball but hits him square and we get the ball on the 30 down 7-0.

Ironically, that was a popular opinion going into last season. I remember a few of my fellow Cane friends saying that basically word for word. And what happens, that guy goes out and does in fact win 10 games and our first coastal title, and we somehow go back to wanting more of the former lol. We are funny.

I don't mind being ranked in the middle of the pack because we are a quick strike team and always will be. That by itself leads to fewer first downs and 3rd down conversions. Look at who has been at the top of the 3rd down world. Teams like Army, who are anything but quick strike. What WE need to do is not be **** near dead last. Getting 3.6 3rd down conversions a game is beyond terrible.

I thought our line protected him quite well last year. Most of his misses were 100% on him.

But I agree, we need to get better, and Rosier wasn't the reason we sucked in 2013. He was simply the biggest reason we bottomed out last year at 129.

Someone already said it. We've been a whipped dog for so long that people have forgotten the U legacy and what made them U fans. They've taken on a defeatists attitude.

I got almost $500 in bets about this. If I lose the Malik has really impressed Richt and is going to take us to the promised land. I can lose in dignity then.

I aint losing any money though. Perry or Williams will start. Take it to the bank.
