Most came against 3rd string too cause nkosi & sheriffs (nkosi in particular)were getting the early burn. Secondary had alot of pbu

He might have been and not paying attention. Rosier completed two long TDs that might've been situational as they weren't driving from the 25 but it wasn't short yardage/red zone stuff. Unless Young and Dean have been demoted the long TD to Richards wasn't against third string players.

I was paying enough attention. I didn't say how he got his tds (but honestly the only one I noticed was up the seem to Herndon. It was a **** nice read. Surprised me honestly.)the majority of his burn was against back ups though. To be clear I'm not saying anything bad right now about Malik or anyone else. Just stating what I noticed. Malik & sheriffs both looked night & day from spring but still too erratic. Pretty sure the starter has already been decided & that's nkosi. But it is just an opinion from a conversation I had. Oh & by the way Malik & Dean are 2nd unit majority of the time right now. Usual starters are Dee & Jackson. My understanding is Dee & Dean are getting a ton of consideration for the starting spots with Malik either in nickel or first off bench. Alot of options back there this uear.

Yeah. He definitely was. It's hysterical how I told y'all the grade he came back with & nobody wanted to hear it even though I thought he'd come back his grade definitely held up. Him & richt just were oil & water to each other...

If this is true then Richt deserves some of the blame. Kaaya was unequivocally the best option we could've had for this season and Richt's inability to persuade him to come back hurts us this season.

I am not sure that he was the best option. We need a QB that can not only throw the ball, which Kaaya did well most of the time, but one that can make plays with his feet as well. I'm not talking rushing for 100 yards, but simply being able to escape pressure, or run for 5 yards on 3rd and 4. I think a telling number from Kaaya's time here is the 3rd down conversion rate. It was never, ever good. Yes, the play calling wasn't always great, but having a QB with cement feet limits what you can do.

Also, there has been talk about how Kaaya wasn't exactly the most liked guy on the team. IF that is true, his loss might be better than most think.

I'm not saying the other QBs we have are better than Kaaya, but I am saying they will be better at some things, and those things could lead to a higher 3rd down conversion rate. We shall see.

There is zero evidence that any QB on the roster is better than Kaaya at THROWING A FOOTBALL, and actually tons of evidence to the contrary.

The fact of the matter is, Richt is just as much to blame, if not more for our offensive struggles last year than Kaaya.

so what were your overall thoughts? qbs, wrs, Oline, and DBs specifically. also, do you think richt should have the 1s going against the 1s?

Only things that really stood out to me were the secondary looked good. Had a good amount of pbu. Dee is gonna be a monster for us this year. My guess is him & Dean start. They've both been putting a **** of a body of work together throughout camp. Two complete opposites in playing styles. Dee just muscles recievers while dean is so fast & lanky. Plays a more mental game with qbs & wr. Also im REALLY worried about our running game. In due time dallas & choc probably flip flop positions. Buddy from clemson wouldve really helped. Just cause we need bodies back there. Ones will go against 1s this week. First week is always more situational. It's about getting the reps in mentally rather than the challenge of executing it.

are you concerned about the running game more because of the lack of quality backs or more because of the oline?

sounds like we might be able to be carried by the defense some this year

Depth. Online should be pretty strong this year. Considering our schedule we all knew defense should carry us this year. Defense is the only thing that allows the possibility of sheriffs or rosier to exist. We have a conundrum on our hands as a football team. Because what this squad & this schedule calls for is a game manager. Someone who played it close & safe. But what out future calls for is giving experience to a qb who can be a game changer & pull us through the though times which all teams eventually encounter. And this schedule allows us to throw a qb out there for experience sake who isn't ready yet for the prime time.

Can't you start with Shirreffs / Rosier as a game manager then let Perry see time in mop up to gain experience?

The last thing this team needs is Perry being handed the job because he's "the future". If he's "the future" he needs to be the best QB on the roster on the 2nd September, otherwise someone else should start. That's how you foster a winning culture - make them earn it.

Scrimmages atleast in this instance isn't so much about execution as out is mentality & poise. Again this is just my opinion that it's his job because of a conversation. Maybe I read it the wrong way. But if I did then that means nkosi is red shirting. Highly doubtful for numerous reasons. I still think Weldon may eventually come into play. He's looking alot better. To be clear I'm not saying Weldon should start right now.

I don't know if that was in regards to what I said or not. I personally just worry ad out our depth. Not because they can't run. More so because of ball security, blocking & the inability to stay healthy as a room. All of them except Mark share certain issues.

Understood, thanks for the response. I, too, think Weldon will play a role in the future. People have to remember that he's pretty raw still because injuries cut into his playing time in high school. But if he can succeed at pushing Perry for the starting job, then I believe that to be a success.

Amazing. Perry has a bad outing and the fan boys who have already anointed him as starter are now throwing Richt under the bus for Kaaya leaving early. Haha. Kid is a true frosh in his first scrimmage at the D-1 level after 10 practices. It's going to take a little bit of time and that may be next year. Richt seems to think Sherrifs or Rosier can run the offense in the meantime. Just relax!!!

The untold story is that Richt completely botched the QB situation over the offseason by 1. Reportedly not fighting to keep Kaaya, who for all his faults almost assuredly has this team in the ACC championship this season and 2. Reportedly not going after any grad transfer QBs. He was essentially okay with going into this season with the guys already on the roster, who are fringe Power 5 talents, and a true freshman who is not an early enrollee. Poor planning and foresight.

so because he couldn't convince a kid he knew for a very limited time too stay in college where he had issues & was proven to be very tender shall we say towards criticism from staff & fan base for free he should be blamed opposed to going & making a career for himself. Brads main problem in my opinion is that he had a staff of football people he's been affiliated with from his younger years on who told him do one thing & he had his coaching staff telling him another. He put way too much stock into his personal people & he's learning the hard way right now that maybe he should've humbled himself a lil & came to learn.

Without getting into this too much my initial thoughts were nkosi would play the first 2 games in mop up & based upon his composure & Evans in the first 2 games a decision would be made for fsu. That was essentially laughed off. The person who laughed it off has alot of say so in that regard.

It's not so much as Richt actually convincing Kaaya to stay that is concerning but the reports that he was fine with Kaaya going and didn't put up much of a fight to keep him. Kaaya may have still ultimately decided to go but I'd hope that Richt has the foresight to see we'd be far better off this season with Kaaya than the alternative; two QBs without another Power 5 offer and a true freshman who didn't enroll early.
