Nor should he. I love seeing guys like Finley begin to develop. Player development is the essence of an elite program and is something we have not seen at UM in a long time. This produces a chain reaction within the team and creates a culture of growth where competition and continual improvement are the status quo.

How many times over the last decade plus we have seen players arrive as freshmen and basically be the same player 2-3 years later? This seems to have changed as Richt and staff seem to be quite adept at developing players. The bottom line is that we should see a significant improvement in this squad from 2016 to 2017. It is this dynamic that has me the most excited.

If this is true then Richt deserves some of the blame. Kaaya was unequivocally the best option we could've had for this season and Richt's inability to persuade him to come back hurts us this season.

so because he couldn't convince a kid he knew for a very limited time too stay in college where he had issues & was proven to be very tender shall we say towards criticism from staff & fan base for free he should be blamed opposed to going & making a career for himself. Brads main problem in my opinion is that he had a staff of football people he's been affiliated with from his younger years on who told him do one thing & he had his coaching staff telling him another. He put way too much stock into his personal people & he's learning the hard way right now that maybe he should've humbled himself a lil & came to learn.

It's not so much as Richt actually convincing Kaaya to stay that is concerning but the reports that he was fine with Kaaya going and didn't put up much of a fight to keep him. Kaaya may have still ultimately decided to go but I'd hope that Richt has the foresight to see we'd be far better off this season with Kaaya than the alternative; two QBs without another Power 5 offer and a true freshman who didn't enroll early.

It may not paint the picture of what type of QB we have in Shirreffs right now, but I think it tells you something about the raw talent he possesses when not 1 FBS school offers him.

You do know that in his first 2 years his brother started in front of him who was a division 1 dual threat qb, in his junior year the year was supposed to start he got hurt and missed the season. He rebounded strong in his only year of experience and finished with 39 touchdowns 4 ints while winning the Florida vs georgia MVP trophy in that game. Both Miami and Georgia were interested in him right before signing day

Our last 3 QBs spring to mind.

Our ST used to be so good because they were full of future 1st rounders, but also because those guys worked to hard at impressing the coaches so they could get on the field. We need the guys at the bottom to be hungry and improve.

I hear you, Jackson. But the fact that he only got 5 touches seems to point to the staff not seeing much of a role for him.

So wait. For the most part it was 1's vs. 2's, right? 1st team O vs. 2nd team D, 1st team D vs. 2nd team O, and vice versa?

That means Mark Walton, behind the 1st team O-line ran for 39 yards on 7 carries (5.5 ypc) against our 2nd team D...
Meanwhile Travis Homer, behind our 2nd team O-line ran for 55 yards on 8 carries (6.9 ypc) against our 1st team D.

If you ask me, that's the biggest and best news from the first scrimmage.
