Sanders Tears

My take has zero to do with race.

He’s not good. I watched Colorado a few times and came away completely unimpressed. Hunter is amazing. Remove Hunter from his team and his last name and this kid is an UDFA.

Cam called him out in a video earlier this year. He checks down and throws screens. He never pushes the ball down field. Ever.

#1 overall pick is a black QB

Overhyped son of a famous player & Coach slides to 5th round…well, that’s racist because he’s a black QB.

When I was at the gym this morning ESPN and ESPN 2 were both locked in on the huge story of Shedeur getting drafted by the Browns. The on-screen graphic literally said Browns trade up to select Sanders in the fifth round.

Traded up. All the way to the 5th round.

ESPN is a joke.

they tech did trade up

Based on what, though?

If it's based on Neon Deion hyping up his son as a Top 5 pick, sure.

But if it's based on the small number of teams that needed QBs, the huge drop-off in QB talent after Cam Ward, and the fact that Shedeur tanked interviews with nearly every team in the market for a QB, it certainly seemed like his slide would last for a good long time.
It’s a weak qb class overall. After ward it’s just whatever justification you want for a qb at that point.

For a 5th round pick you’re just throwing darts at the board at that point.

The browns fill the holes they think they have on their roster and get a qb they think they want at round 5 so to me it’s good value.

Though I blame people drinking the Mel kiper go go juice. Who also gaslit everyone thinking will Levis was a high round pick.

Jaxson Dart probably was next best.

It's rigoddamndiculous.

The Browns passed on Shedeur SIX TIMES.

Then, in the 5th round, they moved up from the 166th pick (5th round) to the 144th pick (5th round) by tossing in the 192nd pick (6th round).

Wow, what a "trade up"...

This is what I’m talking about. It’s not a headline making detail to splash across the screen. ESPN continues to be a clown show.

I made mention of the other day in the draft thread...but my money is on he can't draw up a play, do board sessions, and doesn't have it between the ears. "Bombing the interviews"...these interviews with QBs are mostly board work and seeing if the QB can retain information and jive with the headcoach/playcaller as they visit the facility, etc. Some guys get medical checks, etc.

Shedeur and the Sanders' family trying to dictate terms during these meetings might have just been a way to obfuscate his deficiencies and then it mades its way around the league.
So for $200 you are taking; He’s dumb.

I know it is considered impolite thing to say someone is dumb, and you have done a wonderful job of not referring to him as dumb, but it is entirely possible you are correct, and that is the real reason. Unfortunately for Sanders there are positions at which a player can be less than a genius; Dline, RB, but QB is not that position. A QB who lacks a certain level of mental acuity is doomed in the NFL no matter how good of an athlete he is. And Sanders isn’t that great of an athlete at the pro level.

You can bet one thing SS better leave all those diamonds at home cause he goes in there waving all them fancy watches and chains at someone whose been busting his *** for a couple years just to make just above minimum and he will get his *** kicked and daddy won’t be able to help him there.

Sounds terrible when you say it like that.

He's just always run his Dad's offense. Or maybe it's just because they presume he'll be a pain in the ***.

The NFL takes Zach Wilson types, Johnny Manziel types, and Tim Tebow types in R1. The notion that Shedeur Sanders is a problem waiting to happen but the latter two werent...I just have a hard time believing that's the reason.

This kind of drop is because the league doesn't think he can play.

I watched him play a ton like all of you. I thought he could play...at least he could play in his Dad's offense.

Perhaps my feelings and best intententions tell me he can play, but the facts and evidence tell me the league doesn't think he can. I'm just curious as to why.

I mentioned in the other thread...Deion fired Sean Lewis in their first season at Colorado by November after they lost a bunch.

And then...funny enough...this comes out today from Brian Daboll via The McShay Show.

"Shedeur didn't have a great interview with Brian Daboll in a private visit," McShay said. "An install package came in. Preparation wasn't there for it. [Sanders] got called out on it. Didn’t like that. Brian didn’t appreciate him not liking it."

Idk he probably just doesnt know ball at the level he needs to for the NFL.

Not trying to throw shade at you, but I think it is always hilarious when these stories come out and it was like "Brian Daboll wasn't impressed". Meanwhile Brian Daboll is 18-32 as a head coach and is overseeing one of the worst teams in the league. I mean, if Daboll isn't impressed...

Its a combination.

Teams will take a chance on one of those QBs bc they think they'll grow out of their immaturity and that being in the locker room will square them away.

Sanders isn't that. At all. Hes the most arrogant recruit in history with the most over the top antics. COMBINED with his father being a distraction.

He could play decently well against the teams he was playing against.

All those other risky QB draft picks competed against some of the best CFB defenses of all time, and won.

I still wouldn't have drafted someone like Manziel but any team drafting Sanders with the mountain of negativity that he brings, doesn't care about winning football games.
