We have the most obnoxious fans. I get we have had a terrible 10 plus years, but I think we need to give Richt and his staff a chance before we question everything! Some of you need a life away from this and other sites!

I like all the hires and love some. I have yet to hate any of them and I fail to see the complaining.

Maybe you should allow people to have their opinions. It is called standards. They differ for many. Not everyone will agree with you because you're super positive about Richt.

Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion my man. And yes not everyone will agree with me. To say opinions are standards makes no sense bud!

No. Our standards are based on our opinions. Our standards will differ. It is evident, especially reading this board, that many have much lower standards and expectations.

Someone quoted Chad Morris in this thread, I can't find it.

Chad Morris coached in HS as a HC from 1994-2009. Then he went to Tulsa.

Does anyone see a difference?

Yeah one is coordinating an entire offense. The other is coaching CBs.

That is the only thing, yup. Congrats!

I would like to add that Morris was a HC for 16 years before he went to TULSA.

Gus Malzahn went from HS to SEC OC.

I think Bishop Gorman's coach got a HEAD COACHING job at the FBS level.

Rumph has a pretty good résumé for a position coach: He played at a very high level in college, played in the NFL for 6 years, and coached a state champion at the high school level.

He's not a slam dunk hire (because of lack of experience at the college level), but nothing to get rustled over, either.

These comparisons are pretty poor.

Gus the bus was a HC coach for a long time. He was also the reason why 3-5 kids from his HS team went to Arkansas.

How long has Rumph been a coach?

Gus the bus huh. Yeah he was a coach in Arkansas where you build a ton of experience. He got the job because of one kid. The qb who flopped at Arkansas, transferred to usc & flopped there too. I'll take rumps experience as a player & coach at peak levels over malzahns high school years in Arkansas

Can't say I'm a big fan of the hire. But, I am glad that it's a former first round pick from UM with head coaching/recruiting success who is only the CB coach.

So knowing the success that Malzahn had immediately, you would take Rumph? Interesting. Interesting and stupid.

For the record, it's really, really easy to coach corners. It's not a mentally demanding position. Safety is a much different story.

This is obviously a recruiting move... win Heritage back. Now go do it. Lets get these 4 2017 studs.

Rumph's deal at Miami is for 250K/per year. Not sure on length #Canes

I dont get why there are so many crybabies and skeptics on this topic......mike rumph has been successfull at every level he has played at or coached at.... the dude is a good teacher if he is winning south florida championships against some of the best competition in the country. He is the CB coach for crying out loud, the position he has played his whole life and i think this is a great move by CMR, because it also gives us a guy with ties to south florida. This is why i think we should keep larry scott who has done some tremendous work for us in the tampa area and even in south florida.

You can get all the best coaches and put together an amazing staff, but if your coaches dont have ties to south florida that might hurt you in recruiting, winning will cure all woes but you still need guys from miami who know the people and the landscape down here.

This is a great hire by CMR and its for a position that can be handled by an upcoming coach. We need to win in the trenches and CMR has brought in two great candidates.

I hope there is room on this staff for beard and scott, cause we need some south florida flare to our coaching staff, but if there was a WR coach i would prefer over beard it would be zach azzanni. He is a great recruiter of south florida and a very qualified technician.

DBs in today's game are really important. Proof of which is that I believe Saban still helps to coach DBs at Alabama. Plenty of film on him doing so in any case. Perhaps UM will do something similar and have a more seasoned coach to assist Rumph. CFB offenses and the rules changes put a lot of pressure on CBs to tackle in space against the run and to repeatedly make plays in pass defense oftentimes without much of an opportunity to re-group and reset. I have no idea what kind of teacher Rumph is so I'll withhold judgement on him. I imagine that Richt also brought him in because of his ties to the SFL community, which is also very important. Interesting hire to say the least.

Holy sheeeet!!!!! This board's going nuts over Rumph???? It's not worth fighting over like this... He's not the DC. I hope he does well and can bring some Heritage recruits. Not sure how much support he'll get from the other local hs coaches.

if reed was supposed to help in a cover 2, it's a blown coverage. i'd like to think with the game on the line and winning, schiano wouldn't call for press man to man without any help over top on their fastest wr.
