Marco Wilson

Yea Come on Down!!!!

And Oh Chad sorry for everything I ever said about ya mane!!!

didnt hartley coach safeties for 2 years at Marshall? marshall is a pretty good program.

It's simply the Miami way culturally

It's how the entire city operates.

"I don't **** with it until everybody else ****s with it or at the bare minimum somebody who is deemed to be reputable ****s with it" is the mentality

"Different strokes..." I guess

Did you really just write that?

It's just like every other big city, maybe to an even slightly greater extent.

NY on the same ****
LA on the same ****

Don't run from it. Embrace it. Y'all got stuff to compare stuff to where other folks down. I'd be proud of it.

It just doesn't correlate to all walks of life.

We have the most obnoxious fans. I get we have had a terrible 10 plus years, but I think we need to give Richt and his staff a chance before we question everything! Some of you need a life away from this and other sites!

I like all the hires and love some. I have yet to hate any of them and I fail to see the complaining.

Maybe you should allow people to have their opinions. It is called standards. They differ for many. Not everyone will agree with you because you're super positive about Richt.

Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion my man. And yes not everyone will agree with me. To say opinions are standards makes no sense bud!

If it was for DB....which only makes sense then I absolutely am not a fan of the move. How has hiring high school coaches worked for us in the past? It's a gamble, hope it pays off, but I would have felt more comfortable with an experienced college DB coach.

Rumph is a rising star in the profession. I don't know if you can compare him to Beard or Hurley.

With all do respect, Ice was "a rising star" as well.

Gtfoh ice was a rising what? If yall would take a second to do research before running off at the mouth. Only thing ice was ever considered good at was recruiting & relating to players. Rump is considered a rising star because he is VERY TECHNICAL regardless of heritage he worked national camps for soldinger teaching technique to DB's on an elite level. He's considered a natural coach. Ice has never had that going on because he's never been elite himself at anything beyond coaching booker t. He wasn't even coaching his natural position at UM so how can he relate???

So a head coach winning multiple high school national championships was not elite at anything? Stop working things around your narrative.

So you tell me. What exactly was ice considered elite at? Because he was the head coach at booker t for a team that won championship relates how to him as a position coach in college? It's a simple question but I have a feeling it'll be an amusing answer.

U dont even know what position he was hired as but your not a fan? GTFOH

I just cant seem to get why Ice doesn't get any credit for our Rbs last year?

No speed avg running back in Yearby who ran behind the worst line we have ever seen at the U and he does something only 8 backs have ever done here (1000 yds). On a team littered with F Ups the RBS position was the one position that excelled. If we had pulled an experienced RB coach and he had the same results people would be on his ball sack but since it's Ice then we ignore the results completely and say he sucked as a coach. If you cant use results to judge a coach then WTF do you use? Like it or not it's the hater in you that sees otherwise.

Brown is certainly an upgrade but I just don't understand the bashing on coaches just to hate on your team.

I wanted a technician at CB but I also think we need ties to the community, (especially after dropping Ice) can Rumph provide us both? That's yet to be determined but he did learn to play in the 4-3 cover 2 under Butch, he was a first round draft pick who is considered an up and coming coach. Miami has a history of bringing on local high school coaches and making them work. Just look at Soldinger.

One thing is for sure is I FN didn't like Rumph two weeks ago because he was a pipeline out of Miami for some of our best players. Bringing him on should close that up which is a great thing for us in the long run. Next years class has some players in positions of need for us. There are two really good OL and a DB that Alabama has also offered. We are also going after their RB. I dont think he gets anyone to flip this year but if he can get Eubanks that would be sweet. If this moves helps us close that pipeline out of Miami then its a fence building move and if your looking to hire one local coach to help put that fence up then Rumph is the best guy in Miami right now to bring on. He is young and kids definitely relate to him. Could be and should be a big time recruiter.

Not sure how accurate the Raymond talk was but he could be on the table next year when Les gets fired. During transitions some moves are made specifically to help with that transition. Recruiting and community ties and usually the focus of those moves. This move doesnt surprise me at all. Either would keeping Scott and Beard.

I don't hate the move and will hold judgment until the whole staff is assembled. You need a mix of guys. We have the trenches covered with veteran hard nosed coaches. We have Rumph, Brown, and Hartley as the young energetic recruiters. I'm hopeful the rest of the staff is filled with veteran coaches though.

Has to be support staff. Would be a horrible DB hire. Sony continues to pay dividends to Rumph.

If it is as the db coach, how do you know it is a bad hire? You don't know how he would do as a coach. He might be great nobody knows.

You don't have a ST Coach only in college. They always are also position coaches. You can only have 1 Head Coach and 9 Assistants.

Unless you're Alabama. Then you can have a coach for each player.

I see a lot of comments here but I don't see what position Rumph is hired for.
I'll hold off on commenting until then.

its reported he is coming in as cb coach. one thing we know rumph knows how to play cb. he knows all the techniques to be a good cb coach.

he has been coached in nfl and college on that stuff by some pretty good coaches. rumph should be ok focusing on cb's. with hartley as safeties coach.

My point was that him and Rumph are two of the same. Both successful high school head coaches, with ties to south Florida and etc. Ice didn't work well for us, maybe Rumph will; however, I don't like the idea of hiring another high school coach with no previous track record as a college defensive backs coach.

Rumph has done nothing to prove he is an elite "college coach", and I don't like the idea of taking a gamble that he will be. We'll see what happens, and I hope it works out.
