Rumph to UM

Please read the whole thread.

It was stated earlier that Colbert and Corn were 4 star athletes and experienced players. Of course they would improve as upperclassmen with elite natural talent.

A better way to evaluate a coach is to look at how his unit as a WHOLE performs, instead of cherry picking two 4 star athletes.

The guy shouldnt be here.

What's your retort to Mike Jackson? Was he also a stud coming out of HS? Weren't many on here pushing for the kid to transfer to an FBS school? Again, I understand the criticism for his recruiting, but to say he hasn't had a positive effect on the field is hogwash.

Ok Rumph is better at developing then the scrubs Golden had on the squad. That doesnt mean ****. You think Corn isnt going to credit his coach. Any player would say that ****. Jackson, Bandy, and Young where all very good DBs in HS they where expected to perform like that. Delaney played worse as a senior then he did as a senior.

Over the past few years prior to Richt and staff coming here, I didn't here many former players, if any at all commend their former coaches at the U. Last coaching staff I can remember getting props from former Cane players was Butch & Co.

Well if you didn't hear it then I guess its not happening then. Right? Better close the thread down Coach Pat G hasn't heard any compliments from Canes to the Golden staff. I have heard it said numerous times. Tyriq McCord stated that Coach No D and Golden brought out the best in him and that he never could have seen himself be a LB without them. I have seen it said numerous times by other players as well in youtube videos. So I guess by your logic we should bring back No D because he gets credit from his former athletes as well. No D recruited better then Rumph too.

Jackson was a 4 * Rivals recruit.

I never said it doesn't happen. I said, "I didn't here many former players, if any at all commend their former coaches at the U." Emphasis on the word "MANY". Not "ANY". LOL! You said, "You think Corn isnt going to credit his coach. Any player would say that ****.", making it seem all former players go around talking up their former UM coaches. I'm just saying it doesn't happen as frequently as you lead us to believe. A lot more former players kept quiet about their development here, or lack thereof, rather than dog their coaches while at UM. I guess many of them had heard the old adage of, "If you ain't got nothin' nice to say, don't say nothin' at all."

Yeah, a 4-star kid who did nothing his first 2 years here. Don't know about you, but he looked improved under Rumph's tutelage.

Again, Coach Rumph may have some deficiencies as a recruiter, but it's pretty evident that he's done a solid job teaching and developing since he's been here.

Regardless, hearing 1 player compliment Rumph is not a good indicator of coaching skill. I provided another example of a player complimenting No D.

As kids get older they usually perform better. And Rumph coaching up players better then No D is not very difficult.

Go find any thread on Michael Jackson as an attrition candidate...and you would see me in there defending. Kid was in the rotation from a freshman and on ALL of our specials. Only dumb fans saw him as a bum. Kid always was good.

Here we go smh, bunch of people wrote him off before the season, I didn’t. To say rumph hasn’t played a role in his development is foolish
