I can't believe this is actually still being debated. I'd testify under threat of perjury that there were NO MORE than 6k Notre Dame fans there AND that accounts for the mini pockets that may have been spread across the stadium.

Some people are only interested in being right, even when they’re proven to be wrong. Remember before the game? We had people saying 15, 20, 25,000. I scoffed. Any of us that have been to games knew what the deal was going to be, and of course we were correct.

Charlie strong, Scott Frost, lane kiffin. Someone with some personality kids can relate to. Chip kelly knows Xs and Os better then Dabo. A head coach is not just an offensive mind they have a lot of other responsibilities. I’ll wait to judge till i see the staff but Chip Kelly alone is a sanction waiting to happen and could be the 10 year blowup of the gators program kinda like when spurrier left. Yea big name but he has a lot of baggage and he has his little bit of success(in a confrence that doesn’t play defense) he has a lot of failure as well too.

So a guy that was a train wreck at Texas, a guy that is doing good in G5, and a guy that has been a failure at two programs is automatically a better hire then a guy that went 46-7 including a national championship appearance and who made the NFL playoffs?

A lot of denial in this thread. This guy barely lost at Oregon and made them household names. It crumbled after he left there. A speed based offense in Florida could kill it, I've been waiting to see what an offense like this can do with Florida kids. Things are about to get pretty competitive in Florida now. Reminds me of the days of Bobby, Spurrier and Butch. Who ruled the state then?

Chip Kelly was very good at Oregon, and he's a very good college coach, but let's not act like he pulled a Bill Snyder at Kansas State, turning them into a legit program from the worst D-I program in history. Oregon was good under Mike Belotti. They were ranked 10th the year before Kelly. They won 36 games the 4 years before. They finished ranked #2 right behind Miami in 2001 at 11-1 and a lot of people thought they should have played us instead of Nebraska. They went 21-3 in 2000 and 2001 and 30-6 from 99-01. Again, Kelly is good, but this program has been good, really since Rich Brooks turned it around in the early 90s and took them to the Rose Bowl in '94.

Chip Kelly doesn't like recruiting? I have heard that, but that just might change when 1.) the local talent is FAR easier to access than when he was at Oregon and 2.) now that he realizes he can't be an NFL head coach.

Football has figured out his offense? Kind of hard to argue that when speed/spread systems currently dominate the top NCAA total offense numbers (OU, Ok. St., OSU, UCF, Zona, etc.)

His teams didn't play defense? One, that problem is most likely minimized by the access to stud defensive athletes he'll have access to if he accepts the UF job, and second, his defensive teams at Oregon were pretty good. (35th in total defense in 2009, 34th in 2010, 67th in 2011 - definitely not good this year -- 44th in 2012.)

Kids are absolutely going to want to play for him in Gainesville. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just lying to themselves.
