Did you notice that after Mariota left, Oregon had to rely on D2 transfers at QB? Kelly struck gold with Mariota, but didn't recruit anyone behind him. And the defense? Please. Kelly's no huddle fast break offense was shocking at the time and defenses weren't ready for it. The problem is that because of the pace, he has undersized OL (350 lbs can't play 90 snaps). His scheme also requires massive, massive splits between the OL. It's a good scheme for beating up the slow 3-4 defenses from the Midwest. However - not being a homer, but even if Kelly had SFL speed at skill positions, Miami's defensive speed would eat up that offense, especially with the huge OL splits. You'd have a DT in the qbs face the second the ball is snapped.
Kelly was also gone by the time Oregon had to replace Mariota, so that isn't on him. Kelly also developed Dennis Dixon as well(He was the OC at that point), so his QB bonafides are well established.
