Rumours about Chip Kelly to UF

Did you notice that after Mariota left, Oregon had to rely on D2 transfers at QB? Kelly struck gold with Mariota, but didn't recruit anyone behind him. And the defense? Please. Kelly's no huddle fast break offense was shocking at the time and defenses weren't ready for it. The problem is that because of the pace, he has undersized OL (350 lbs can't play 90 snaps). His scheme also requires massive, massive splits between the OL. It's a good scheme for beating up the slow 3-4 defenses from the Midwest. However - not being a homer, but even if Kelly had SFL speed at skill positions, Miami's defensive speed would eat up that offense, especially with the huge OL splits. You'd have a DT in the qbs face the second the ball is snapped.

Kelly was also gone by the time Oregon had to replace Mariota, so that isn't on him. Kelly also developed Dennis Dixon as well(He was the OC at that point), so his QB bonafides are well established.

Kelly's stock has taken a hit the last two years but 90% of this board was clammoring for him when Golden was let go.

It remains to be seen how well of a job he'd do in Gainesville but the hypocrisy is pretty funny.

Kelly's overrated. Don't blame us if you're too dumb to see it.

Did you see my next post, you imbecilic waste of space?

He's a good college coach . Why are people pretending that he can't make it at uf but would have killed it with Miami. Just hypocritical.

Chips a great college head coach... the only issue is he has been on the record saying he hates recruiting.. winning at UM/FSU/UF.. all starts with recruiting... the local coaches want you to show up and kiss their asses the kids want you to massage their egos... that is a big area of concern if you are UF.. if you only care about X's and O's you wont get the transcendent talent from down here..

that has to be a concern and has to factor into whether he will be successful

Terrific offensive mind, mediocre recruiter , certified a-hole. Good hire for them. He'll have immediate successful because the SEC East is awful.

Better hire for Miami as Richt is locking down South Florida and going against a lazy recruiter for instate recruiting wars is what the doctor ordered.

I never wanted him here. Hate his offense because it is almost impossible for his team to have a good defense. I am fine if the slime suckers get him as HC. If we play, our Cane defense will kill his "great" offense. We just need to keep the pipeline full of Miami level DTs. With that, everyone else is free to hunt and kill in the open.

I never wanted Chip Kelly and that overrated *** offense anywhere near this program. He's definitely an upgrade over what Florida's has had since Meyer left but you ain't winning no titles with him as the HC.

Keep lying to yourselves. Kelly at Florida is not a good thing for us. Those shmucks need to stay down as long as possible.

Yeah, Kelly at UF would be bad news. There's nothing good about it if it happens, even if we wouldn't have to face his team on a yearly basis.

And for those saying he's a mediocre coach or recruiter, the guy went 46-7 in four years, played for a national championship (which his team lost by three points), developed Dennis Dixon, Darron Thompson and Marcus Mariota (all really great college QBs), and put up ridiculous numbers during that time. If he simply "maintains" his recruiting level at UF, they'll be really good; if he recruits Florida athletes for the offense and UF continues to attract defensive talent, it'll be a game changer for the national landscape.

What he did at Oregon was special but College football has caught up to what he did there. His offense isn't at rare as it was in 2009. I believe he was also in early on how big S/C and nutrition was. He doesn't get along with Admin/Management very well and he doesn't like to recruit.

UCF leads the nation in scoring running that offense. Granted the AAC isn't a power 5 conference but the Oregon spread is hardly the wishbone. Kelly struggled against the powerhouse SEC schools for one reason. They were out talented on the lines. Oregon just didn't have the horses in the trenches.

AAC is the best non-P5 conference, but it's still the AAC. I would have liked to see their offense against GT, but that game was cancelled. They scored against Maryland, but MD is trash, and they did put up their most points against FCS Austin Peay (73) FIU (61), 2-8 ECU (63) and 3-7 Cincy (51). Their offense is still good, but some perspective.

Also remember this is a UCF team that went 0-12 two years ago and only 6-7 last year. It's not like Frost has been building some juggernaut over a long period of time. Most of the contributors (besides Milton, the QB) were on the 0-12 team. The least they've scored in a game this year is 31. Still, I'd like to see them match up against a better p5 team. If they win out, they'll most likely get matched up against a top P5 team in a NY6 bowl game.

And, 2 years before that they were 12-1, so it's not like they were starting from scratch to build a program out of nothing. Again, I think the offense can work, I'm just not convinced it would be putting up big numbers against better defenses week in and week out.

People always get all excited about these offenses. Football is won in the trenches. They went to the ship and couldn't do it against Auburn. He will get recruits if he go there and will have them buzzing but so would any good coach. Syracuse is a poor example because of their personnel but people were scared because of the speed of their play. We manned up and shut them down. You have to have alot of players on defense these days. We probably play 30+ players on defense. It's hard to tire that out.

Basically saying I'm not scared. I would like to see him and Texas A&M to go up against Saban every year, just because I know he hates that type of offense. Lol

He'll probably keep Randy Shannon as the DC. They had a pretty good professional relationship while both of them were HCs. Not sure who visit who, but I'm sure one of them visited the other!

A good Uif team at least keeps on edge and will force our staff and team to stay hungry. Just like a good FSU team keeps us focused.

Sht teams don't do anything for us. They don't do anything for anybody. You need competition to stay up. Otherwise you end up like Deniro in Raging Bull with an enormous fat medicine ball stomach from getting lazy and going after 16 year old girls. You lose your edge.

All you guys that say "This isn't good for us", take a knee and regroup. What do you think their fans are saying right now? You think they're cool with the Turnover Chain becoming a phenomenon and ESPN commercials proclaiming "The U is BACK!". They don't have commercials like that. They don't have music videos. They don't have a brand like us. They're chasing US. Not the other way around.

We've built this sht back up in 2 years with a pro at the helm who knows what's at stake and it's only going to get better. Don't be midget stepping around. Having something to chase is ALWAYS good for competition and it'll keep us on our toes.

Kelly at UF would mean nothing for us, we have recruiting on lock already.... y'all be finding made up **** to "be concerned" about.??

Chip Kelly's coming OMG!! Gtfoh
