Rousseau with a sack!

Call it whatever you wish.

We all wish that EVERYTHING happened just the way we want. I too was disappointed by his decision BUT immediately let it go. Because it was his to make not mine.

But deriding someone's choice that he makes for his own life just because you want to see him play Is not respecting him as a man or individual. He didn't owe the fans anything. Some acted as if he owed them something.

Some called him a quitter and coward because of his decision. Then turned to deriding his skills and hoping he failed in the future. It did happen, you can see it for yourself in the old posts ..so it was exactly what it was.

Regardless, GR future will be based on how he does in the NFL. I'm glad some team decided to take him in the 1st round as he deserved and now the rest is up to him.

So, I'll continue wishing him and other Canes the best in whatever choices they make for their lives. Seems GR made the best choice for himself and his family and that's fine by me.
He made what he thought was the best choice for him and his family. Had he played he is a top 5 pick and the difference in contracts is substantial. Of course I wish him well and predict he is a pro bowler before it’s all said and done.

Neither you nor I or anyone else knows what would have happened IF he had played.

He could have gotten hurt, had an off year or had 30 sacks, maybe 50 ...who knows?...we'll never know because it didn't happen.

Whatever.... it was his decision to make and he made it .....and now he must live with it

Luckily for GR , & all of us, we determine our own futures...not what others wish our futures will become.....because as we all know...there are a lot of haters out there hoping we fail

I said this in the J Phillips thread before the draft over and over but got bashed for it.
Phillips is a solid player and high character and high effort. That will keep him in the league a long time. On top of that he is an athletic freak.
The difference is GR is a freak of nature. He is going to get bigger and stronger. That’s scary. He is going to be a force in the league.

Looks like a clown to me. Everyone but the Dolphins lnew Rousseau was going to dominate in the league. He gets no credit for pointing out an obvious prediction.
You mean the Phins and 28 other teams? On draft day most on here wanted Phillips. Phillips has been injured and will be fine when healthy. We have 2 young DE that will dominate for the next decade. I just wish GR went to Baltimore instead of Buffalo.

Who do you think is the better prospect between Phillips and Rousseau?
My only comment on the topic prior to the draft is I thought GR could have come back and answered a ton of questions. I've gushed over him for years, but it's tough to spend a Top 10 pick on him when, because of his limited college film and how he produced on that college film, you're picking mostly on projection. But, like I've said in this and other threads, that arm length (he's got good feet, too) is just different and was going to make him a 1st rounder by some team that wanted to speculate.

As for Phillips, my main concern with him was reliability and whether or not he'd be the type of guy who'd hone his craft. Still think he needed some polish to his pass rush, but I'm no expert at that either. I know that sounds like a bull**** answer because it sorta is a bull**** answer: I thought it was a total guess between the two. Gun to my head, I'd just pick whichever one better fit my defensive scheme/plans. For the Phins, that was Phillips, who is even running around the coverages at the moment. Hopefully, he stays healthy and they have him chasing the passer more often.

I see what you're saying . Also , they're both freakish in different ways . Phillips put up testing numbers at the combine that were freakish and GR has that freakish wingspan etc . Had you been the Phins GM at the draft would Phillips have been your pick or was there someone else you wish they had taken ?

I told D$ my goal with the second 1st rounder would have been to trade back somewhere between 20-23 (in front of Pitt) and draft Najee Harris.

If I had to make the pick, I think Phillips is a fine risk/reward. My concerns about him were, from what I was told, dude is consistently focused on business ventures and other aspects outside of football. Is that true? Who knows, I'm not doing interviews or have deep player insights other than what a couple random people tell me. Maybe it doesn't even matter and, as a 22 year old (he's almost a full year older than GR), he focuses on his craft, loves football, stays healthy, and those freakish traits (foot speed, etc.) play out for the Phins.

I definitely would have loved to give Tua a weapon like Najee Harris. Amazing athlete etc and we know how athletic he is but my goodness he catches like a young Keith Byars out of the backfield.

To me, the three best pass rushers in the draft were Phillips, Rousseau and Joe Tryon from UW.

I’m no technique expert. Give me the long athletes who play hard and sack the QB.

Bills have a really nice group of rookie pass rushers with Boogie Basham, AJ Epenesa and ofc GR. McDermott is going to love them. Big fan of him as a coach

So much for a project guy
I literally had arguments with guys like @Mackmiller974 and others that GR was the best DE in the draft. I got ridiculed over and over. I can't wait to bump that thread when he starts doing this in real games. Meanwhile my Dolphins have Phillips playing out of position. He's not a LB he's a DE and he looks awkward out there right now.

Phillips is more talented Rousseau. Dolphins are trying to do to much, to soon with Phillips but they will figure out the right spot for him
