Romberg Gets It

you think Tennessee fixed their talent deficit in 2 seasons w heuphal? hes not a recruiter lol. hes a x and o guy. they finally figured out that you can win by having the better coach (actual coach not a talent collector). we dont have the better coach most weekends but we have a talent collector. the issue is we aren't going to collect talent at the pace everyone thinks we will (at the Bama UGA OSU level) so were gonna have to make a decision there. Tennessee is great bc of their coach not bc of talent. they didnt sit there and out recruit the world to beat Bama this year. they beat Bama by having worse talent but having the better x and o.

Josh Heupel at UCF
12-1, then
10-3, then
6-4

But he's winning at Tennessee because he's an x and o guy. Yikes.

Uh oh......this has a chance of not aging well. That staff went 7-6 last year. If they didn't need talent, and it's all about the playcalling, why did they get blown out multiple times in 2021?
hey buddy look at their season last year. look at their losses. come back to me.

they lost to ACC Champ Pitt
they lost to then ranked UF
they lost to 10 win Ole Miss
they lost to title runner up Bama
beat ranked UK
and lost to top ranked title winning UGA

before the bowl

he isnt a recruiter. hes never bene one. hes a scheme god though. his offenses were good at UCF and were good at Tennessee instantly. he took a trash can VT qb and turned him into this.

12-1 with Scott Frost's roster, 6-4 with his own roster. Scheme god.

<Maude edit>

hes nto a recruiter. he doesn't do that part well. it was the biggest complaint for UCF fans, but hes a stud x and o guy. hes transformed the tenn offense overnight. its one thing they do well over anyone. the d is better this year too.

anyways you dont understand anything you watch so w.e.

But your claim is that he schemed his way past Alabama with those same players. Why did he wait until this year to start scheming?

Here's all of our offensive players in the NFL from the last 6 years. Can't make this stuff up...

Njoku - New Jersey
Berrios - North Carolina
Homer - local
Herndon - Georgia
Osborn - Michigan
Dallas - Georgia
Jordan - Nevada
*Cager - Maryland
*Gus Edwards - New York
And only Osborn and Jordan where Manny recruits/transfers.

You're better than this. Insecure people take personal shots like that.

If he's a scheme god, why did his UCF teams get worse? According to you, he doesn't need elite recruits. He just outschemes everyone. But that 6-4 season.....

How was he supposed to gut it in one off-season?
Not Mario, the school, BoT, those that should care about a quality program. No, not just Manny and Blake, gut the whole **** place. The stench of mediocrity reeks far and wide there.

And have more than an effing coaching stump.

he didnt. their offense turned around over night the moment he got to Knoxville. they got a better defense this year. you think they beat Bama by accident? he put their corners on a ******* island and burned the **** out f them bc he saw their weaknesses.

If you have 80 kids on the team and 30-40 are the issue, can’t cut all of them and just play the season with 40-50 kids. I mean, I guess you can sit 10-15 of them but let them expose themselves.
It’s a similar issue to what happened to Manny in 2019. If he would have benched Jarren Williams, Jeff Thomas and all the other problem kids, they would have gone 3-9 instead of 6-7.

The difference is, that was before players could transfer without sitting out a year. If there were a bunch of soft, coddled kids here, why didn’t they leave when Mario took over? Only Nesta and Gurvan Hall transferred. (And a couple of career reserves who would never have played). There was plenty of time for kids to leave from the point where Mario got hired to the start of the season. Was the staff not holding them accountable until the season (and all the losing) started? It’s funny that there was no culture problem in the preseason.

He got a better defense????? They gave up 49 to Alabama and 33 to Florida.

I think it’s a combo. Up 7-0, about to go up 14-0, but can’t get 1 yard on 4th down and then the two fumbles right after. They were on their way to crushing Duke again.

Players failed, coaching certainly failed. Changes need to happen on both.
I’m not giving the players a pass either. They’re the ones out there making mistakes. Just that it’s literally the coaches job to keep them from making mistakes. For example, how many games in a row does Jaylan Knighton have to fumble before they start to restrict his playing time? He was already one of the least effective running backs in recent UM history before he started dropping the ball all the time.

So now he needs players? Why didn't he just scheme with the next guy? He's a scheme god.

lol. lets play heuphals UCF team right now w this staff. see who wins bc you clearly dont watch anyone else. you don't understand what he did vs Bama.

I don’t disagree with a lot of your points but there were a lot of hints by Cribby and other insiders that they expected people to transfer out and in the end, did not.

Should have brought in more transfers for sure and I think there is also the human part where you think you can change some guys or at least I am going to find out if any can change and adapt and then go from there. You posted before that a good coaching staff should take a 7-5 team and get 2-3 more victories.

I am with you there but I now believe we over value what we had and also missed on some coaching hires that haven’t made the situation any better.

It’s everyone’s fault. There’s bad coaching and putting guys in bad spots on both sides of the ball. There’s also quitters and soft kids who need to move on after the season. That said there needs to be some coaches leaving with them. It’s a big mess.
with respect to coaches that need to leave…I am assuming Gattis is at the top of that list.

Does your list include Ponce, Steele and Addae? Am I missing anyone else?

Oh, they would destroy us. But they have better players than we do.

Do you understand what Mario did to Ohio State last year?
