Richt's Committed to Building the Program the Right Way

GREAT coaches fit their scheme according to what personnel they have at hand.

BAD coaches try and fit personnel to their scheme regardless of who they got.

Before the season started I thought we lacked quality depth and leadership. I believe the results have confirmed this and for those reasons I give Richt a pass. I don't think the play calling has been stellar but I don't see it as bad as others do.

The RBs are cutting back too early and missing lanes or running into blockers plus there's open receivers on most pass plays and multiple drops.
The 'Phil Steele' and 'Watson vs Kaaya' threads revealed a lot of this way back in May but the Kool Aid was spiked and most couldn't see clearly.

i thought the same, but it goes deeper than that, we want a culture that thrives on physicality and running the ball. that takes courage to stick to your guns when everyone else wants you to abandon your culture for first year success.

but i think we can be more imaginative

Does the "Right Way" include numerous losses? How exactly does that help recruiting?

I'm sure they don't go in saying we're going to run no matter what . . . but i'm sure they say, running is who we want to be and we have to execute. we're not gonna gimmick people, we're going to line up execute and run the football and our offense.

now can the players execute consistently, thus far no, but the culture is being built. no gimmicks, line up, be physical, execute and win

good coaches think long term, not immediate fan pleasing

Aside from thinking "learn term", do great coaches not want to win in the short term as well?

of course they want to win, but i doubt it's at the expensive of creating the identity of the program.

program re-building is for grownups if it's done right. you'll have your elite coaches who turn it around immediately, but with most you have to establish a culture. every coach knows that, now can you put it out on the field and will players believe in it . . . fans will come and go, so you can't bend your culture to appease them . . . my point is he has a resume, he's legit, so why not believe if given time, he can't establish a physical culture here

Perhaps CMR should think about building this program the wrong way by winning games he should win which will lead to better recruiting classes which will let him do what he wants to do? Our four losses are to bad teams and we should have won at least three of the four games.

Where did I write that he is "throwing games"? According to you, he is not winning games because he is rigidly adhering to a philosophy that will sacrifice the short term success of the team in order to achieve his long term goals.
