Retiring the turnover chain

**** near every single HS team at the State Title games had a TO chain. Most of them even had the shirts.

This is taking over and it'll be the dumbest marketing move of all time to retire it.

Only works if you're getting a lot of turnovers and are winning. Without those two conditions, it becomes a joke that other schools can mock you with.

Welcome to being a Miami Hurricane. Did you just discover football, or what's your Cane fandom story?

I jest, I jest. But seriously, that's just the way it is. They mocked the smoke, and tried to stop us from doing it. Until everyone copied it. They mocked the 4 fingers. And then everyone copied it. They mocked the dancing, the celebrating, the trash talking. Everyone copied it. They mocked NFL U and Position U. Then everyone else claimed that's what they were. They mocked us for being too fast, too small, too inner city. Then everyone started to build their programs on that philosophy. They will mock our chain too. But they're ALL trying to figure out a clever way to copy it and pretend like they didn't plagiarize it from us.

We are the Miami Hurricanes. We are the U. They hate us cause they ain't us. Anyone who can't get comfortable with that, should go root for Pedo State or Notre Douchebag.

Are you kidding me?

Do you know how much money Adidas and dyme lyfe are making selling turnover chain shirts? Do you know how much pub we got because of that chain? Dmoney hit the nail on the head by saying if I‎t gets old get a bigger, more expensive chain.

Other teams throw up the U to mock us all the time. Should we retire that?

Hating on UM is just a fact of life. Doesn't matter what it's about.

By this logic we should've shut down the program after the 2001 title because we were due to have a 7-5 season at some point after.

I'd say the author of this hackery was displaying contrarianism that'd even make Lebatard blush but I don't think it's intentional and this guy is gust an idiot. It read like something from a point/counterpoint section of a mediocre middle school newspaper.

I graduated from the U in 1966 so I'm guessing I've been a Canes fan far longer than you have been alive. My point is it woulda been foolish to have had the TC in the Al Golden years when we weren't winning or turning anyone over. The smoke ... different thing altogether.

It doesn't matter if it's foolish. Maybe if we suck coaches can take it away for the year as punishment. But imagine if Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, and more HOFers had worn this chain. It would have so much more meaning. That'll be 20 years from now. Doesn't matter if we have a down year.

Maybe we should have. At least then we wouldn't have to deal with these dumbass posters thinking we should get rid of a new tradition.

Congrats, you are older than I am. That was not my point, apologies for my poor attempt at humor. Props to you for living through the bad and the good and standing firm in your love for all things Cane.

My point is, if you base your decisions in life on avoiding being mocked, ridiculed, or otherwise judged, second guessed, embarrassed, etc, you would never get out of bed.

Howard Schnellenberger didn't walk out his front door every morning to build the State of Miami thinking about what would be the best way to avoid being made fun of.

"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken
And stoop and build them up with worn out tools
...
If neither foes, nor loving friends can hurt you
...
Yours is the earth and everything that's in it
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my Son!"
Excerpted from "If" -by Rudyard Kipling

Only thing i hate is the media coverage of it. Once the media jumps on shît they just make it lame.
