Respect to Cameron J. Ward

two things can be true
ward put the program back on the map
malachi toney brought the streets back
both important, however i give the nod to mali as his influence will benefit the program for the next 10 years
That’s fair

Guys like Bain throw them in as well

But no ward and probably no Mali so it’s the former IMO
When Mali decommitted I’m not sure I ever really heard the whole truth. I know people were very worried he wouldn’t come back. Not 100% sure how close we were to actually losing him

I tend to think what you’re thinking here

We’re approaching dangerous levels of sunshine.

Quick, someone go find a thread where we all thought Robbie Washington was going to shift the way local kids looked at the program to calm this down.

Let’s be really real for a second.

I think I’ve made it pretty **** clear I am all-in on Mario, and have been for almost a decade. Hiring him is the best thing that’s happened for the last 20 years.

But, as elite as he is at this crooting game, certain things have to happen for other things to come to fruition.

In January of 2024, remember that’s only about 30 months ago, we were a month away from starting spring ball with Emory Williams and Reese Poffenbarger competing to be our starting QB. On the 13th of that month, Cam Ward decided to put the NFL on hold, and become a Miami Hurricane.

Now, we can’t say for sure exactly how things play out if this doesn’t happen. Mario is a cyborg recruiting terminator, I’m sure we still sign a good bit of excellent football players. However, I think it’s certain we don’t win 10 games in 2024 without Cam. If we don’t win 10, does Mali come? Remember, he decommitted once before. I’m not sure he signs up here if we go 7-5 with Emory/The Poff. We all know the impact Mali has on kids in SFL. If we don’t get him, do we get Nick? Do we get A1? Do we make it to the natty last year, and subsequently sign another excellent class? I’m not sure.

But what I am sure, is Cameron Ward is the most important player we’ve had in 20 years here. Remember, a LOT of people on and off this board were very skeptical of Mario in the first place, and then we went 5-7, and then we had the GT debacle leading to 7-6 in 2023. Another mediocre season, and I’m not sure we’re here right now. I’m not sure we have FIVE 5-stars in the boat, with possibly more on the way.

So I just want people to understand and respect what 1 did while he was here. Everyone, literally everyone involved with getting him here, plus he and his family deserve all the flowers. If we go on the run we all think we can the next 5+ years, and we hang banner #6 up soon, I think Cam becomes one of the most important players in the HISTORY of this program. Up there with Mel Bratton and Zo Highsmith, who came here in the early 80s when nobody elite locally was doing it. With Howard and the other all-time greats.

Thank you, Cam. Thank you, Mario. We got a LONG way to go…..this **** ain’t even close to written yet. But boys, we are about to have some fun for a long, long time. Buckle up.
I couldn't agree with you more...

It's crazy that a certain former insider/poster/podcaster once said that "Cam's impact and 2024 season would be soon forgotten and C Beck's impact and contribution was far greater"---with a straight face...

Without *1 we absolutely wouldn't be where/what we are NOW...

Love that ****...

Pick literally any South Florida WR before Mali the last 20 years and we probably got it wrong here

Big Boi Atl GIF
BIG LIL BRUDDA’!!! 😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂

I tweeted this on Wednesday with the impending Sears commitment looming, Ward truly was/is the epicenter of what is taking place now...

You're 1000x correct brother...

The RIPPLE affect that has engulfed this program and city is nothing short of amazing...

Completely changed the trajectory of the program.

I think with Mario we would have reached this point no matter what, but the timetable was sped up by about 2 years because of Cam.

Hats off to the man that made our beloved canes relevant again; and put the program on his back. That is the number one overall pick and zero star hailing from West Columbia Texas. The incomparable Cameron Ward.

I feel bad bringing it up for non-football reasons. But I seem to remember some things being said about the 2016 class of receivers and… yeah.
