Guilty, I was one of those dumb asses for about 2 seconds during the Cal game IIRC saying I wish he'd take what the D gave him sometimes.

But 100 on the OP. What a difference he and one year made for this program.

Yea both deserve the same type of hype, two legends of the modern Canes. Both top tier I cant put one above the other, Cam had that mouthpiece though of the old Canes. Him on Sports Center after the Cal game was legendary, he was talking **** openly and it wasn't like Tebow making eye contact with the cameras it was real.

Cam went into that Titan locker room last year and did the same thing there. It's who he is through and through.

Did you read the OP? It’s not about catching passes from Ward. It’s about trajectory of a program. What if we go up to the swamp in 2024 with Emory and get smacked? You think Mali is coming? Ehhhhh I don’t know, Jim! *Romo voice*

I agree with everything you said cause we do owe Cam a lot for what has happened but the only thing I wish is that he’d of made up his mind a little sooner cause if he had J Smith would have probably been a Cane but he wasn’t coming here with Emory the Gawd as the QB.

But I’m glad he finally decided as it might have cost us Smith but it has brought us more talent than we could have ever imagined after 2 decades of struggling and what would of been just another year of the same if not for him.
 
i agree about the argument of cam ward being important ... but i can't ignore what malachi is doing and his cult like following that will be benefit the program for years to come



and i'm not convinced toney doesn't come to miami regardless of the state of the program ... he committed august 22 2023 a full 4 months before cam committed in january of 2024 ... how do we know he's not a duke johnson type guy?

Bro go look at them scores in '24 season, subtract Cam and add Emory/poff and guess the record with that defense.. Cam is the answer, Mali impact for 3 years gonna be felt but that Cam run.. Cmon

fair arguments, but how do we know that malachi wasn't just a miami kid ala duke johnson, ahmon richards, rueben bain or restrepo (pic with richt when he was a jit and he committed a full calendar year before ward to a snap) ... kids that were coming to miami regardless of the circumstances ... cam ward definitely made it more enticing to come to miami but malachi got guys from france saying gabos ... parents driving 2 and a half hours to buy a backpack with his pic on it ... it's a 1a and 1b situation imo ...

Mali was going yo be a cane regardless of who the qb, the coach, whoever. Some kids will always come here, i think nick and a1 are the same way imo

Now Mali impact will push even more kids towards this path
 
This is the mt rushmore of our resurgence in a timeline order because i don’t think one person could do this

1. Mario - the last 20 years we hired either an unproven coordinator from within, someone from a lower level school, and an older mark ritch. Mario was the first top tier nationally respected head coach in his prime that we hired in 2 or maybe even 3 decades. And like always says he couldn’t go to the grave without getting Miami right. Everything started with him

2. Bain & Francis - Putting them together, two nationally highly recruited kids in the country came here after we had our worst season ever. They believed in Mario vision. Francis especially because i think bain would be a cane no matter what its in his blood he was raised to be one but we seen top sfla kids leave and he stayed.. These two laid the foundation of the program

3. Cam ward - Those two above laid the foundation and cam raised the ceiling to what we are becoming now. Not only did he carry on the field but he made it cool to be a cane again. His td celebration even made it all the way NFL. He played himself into the #1 pick, we haven’t had that since idk when. He made people see we were a different program this time around. He took a chance on us and it’s one of the most impactful years ever

3. Mali - Without those 3 above i think mali still is a cane if we wanted him. But i don’t think he has the stage to have the impact that he is having. Maybe we would still be good but we needed an ambassador at the skill positions. We needed someone who was already a superstar locally to come and show you can stay home and become a bigger superstar. And on top of that he was at worst the 3rd best player on a natty level team as a true freshman who should be a high school senior. Our offense would have been nothing without him, he carried the city and team on his back this past year. He is the face of Miami, i always use to say we had to rebuild our connection to the community thats what made Miami different and why recruits stayed home, Mali has done that
