Remind me again how Mario is not good enough for us?

6-6 with losses to FSU, Temple, and Michigan State could get him canned. 7-5 might put him on the extreme hot seat. 8-4 and his job is safe. I just don't see the power brokers firing the mayor's son after year 2

Our luck would be he gets a bowl win against a garbage team after going 7-5 next year. That would be enough to save his job for one more year and continue the feigned anger from certain BoT members that vent to Barry Jackson but never actually do anything.

Why ON EARTH would he want to come back here? With Phil Knight and Nike's money and facilities, he'd be NUTS to leave. The only way we would have a chance of getting him is if he gets fired.
Same reason Scott Frost went back to Nebraska - roots. Frost had his pick of any A list college jobs and some pro jobs, but chose to go back home. If we can't get it fixed, I'm hoping that happens with Mario.

He'll change the narrative to how the kids are playing every down, playing much harder than next year, and how he's setting the table for a big year 3. "Our oline is finally all grown up now."

If he did not have Miami connections would he even be considered? I am not saying he would or would not, an honest question. We need someone with success as a head coach and is an offensive innovator, or will be able to lure an OC that is an innovator.

The Canes are currently ranked 17th and Oregon 18th. Lets go easy on the whole, "Our class is ranked higher than Oregon stuff." Its all within the margins.
If the Canes went 11-2, won their conference championship, were headed to a major bowl, and their last game before early signing day was a rout victory over the #5 team in the country....The Canes would have a top 5 - 10 recruiting class....

Only double digit win season in the last 15 years netted the Canes the #8 class in the country....

All of these years of mediocre, at best, on field performances and Miami is still a name brand school waiting (impatiently) on a breakout year or two on the field....

Could definitely be worse....USC, the school that's probably most comparable to Miami....Is currently sitting at #78 in the recruiting rankings....

Finally someone who knows football!!!

Disagree. When we were winning look at the number of players we had going to the Pro Bowl. Even when we started the decline we had players going into the draft we still produced NFL talent, although not well coached. Now look at the draft and the Canes. Yes, we have had some lower ranked players, some undervalued, but not the quantity or quality of impact players we once had. Just look at the last 4 drafts, we have had only 4 player drafted higher than the 4th round. This is not what elite programs produce.

Ask yourself, who are the Hurricane impact players on NFL teams now? How long have they been in the NFL. Do you see any of these players going to the Haa of Fame after the nice run we just had. Now compare us to the elite teams and we are slow and look undersized in many positions. That is recruiting as you cannot teach speed and size. But I guess I don't know football.

Anyone who wouldn’t take him after what he did this year is a fool.

He might not be elite, but he’s very good and in the ACC Coastal with our recruiting pool, that’s more than enough.

I guess if you goal is the ACC Coastal he is a great choice. I'd like to see Miami back where they belong at the top of college football. Mario will not take us there. As I said before, thanks to him for being a Canes and what he did on the field. After that, he is not the answer, unless he wants to come here and coach the OL and recruit.

He went 5-4 in the pac 12 and finished 4th in the North with a good team. He’s no different than the crap we’ve had. If he can sustain success I’ll be glad to say I’m wrong but there’s way too many people crowning him around here

HE JUST WON TEN GAMES AND THE PAC 12 FOR CHRISSAKES. HE IS ABOUT TO PLAY FOR A ROSE BOWL.

Jesus, are some of you really this stupid? Cristobal is 10,000 times the coach that Manny is.

What the **** are we turning our noses up at? A guy who has won 19 games in the past two seasons, is an alumnus, won two national champions as a player and has shown that he has the chops to lead his team to a conference title is somehow not good enough for the University of Miami?

We are a joke of a program. Yet here we are, turning away guys about to play in the ******* Rose Bowl, because he's not "good enough" for some of you snobs who watched this team when we were good two decades ago.

Come back to reality. Please.

You think this dumpster fire program is going to get a better coach than Mario Cristobal?

Mario is looking at Nebraska pulls from Fla and thinking , i will get me some next year
CMD dead man walking , hopefully the same thing for Blake and Carol

Miami is Mario's dream job. Blake James will not last long and if Manny doesn't get his act together, Mario will be interested in the position when it becomes available again in a year or two. Miami will have to sell Mario on the changes he deems necessary to bring us back to greatness, but make no mistake, Mario's lifelong coaching dream would be to be the one to bring Miami back to greatness.

If Mario convinced Miami to spend Oregon type money, I am all ears.

With Blake James, doubtful. However, if we show we are serious about winning and show the confidence to candidates, yes we will. The right coach will know this job will leapfrog into the NFL in a few years. We can win again, but we have to have the support of the BOT and a change at the AD, along with the understanding that it can get a little messy in football, but the risks will bring rewards.

And that he finally has a program full of "his" guys.

Espn also has...
Miami 14th
Oregon 17th.

It's not that anyone is bragging about us being a ranked higher than Oregon it's just that everyone is saying Marion is this supreme recruiter and he's basically losing to Manny and the rest of the corches who lost to FIU. While Oregon has Phil Knight and almost unlimited reaources.....Think about that

With all of those unlimited resources, you'd have to assume that Oregon would do extensive research before hiring a head coach. You know, to make sure they're good enough to, let say,... Win the conference, recruit, back fill coaching changes, manage the game, etc... Looks to me like those unlimited resources got them the coach they wanted.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Blake James interviewed one person with no previous head coaching experience and a very limited career coaching resume... and hired him on the spot. Im not sure that resources are the problem here.

All of those resources also netted them Willie T, so I guess you could say it is not an exact science.

Now Blake on the other hand is just a bumbling idiot. $4M to another school to hire a coach for on the job training, GTFO.
