Remind me again how Mario is not good enough for us?

I have not heard any better coaches praising this job. Paul Dee hired a search firm and the best they could land was...Randy Shannon? FSU went searching for months and with their budget they land a G5 coach? This isn’t as easy as the CIS crowd lets on.

Yet Mullen begged for the job twice. Leach wanted the job, can't truly say he is better than Mario though. Some on here say Patterson was interested. Those are just names we heard, I'm sure there were more. However, our coaching searches have turned into one day and a UM guy.

We have also upped what we are willing to pay as opposed to prior years and Richt if still here would be around a top 20 guy. Combine that with one of the best recruiting areas in the country and you have a desired job. As stated, we will not get Saban, Dabo, or Meyer, but you will get others to listen and some from P5. But again, look where some of the legends were before they became legends.

As for FSU, it looks like they made a good hire. Franklin seemed very interested as well. One thing that hurt them like it did the gator and will us is running through coaches due to bad hires. No one is going to want to be part of a turnstile program.

He is killing it in every way and he just landed Flowe.

Said it before and I'll say it again - if the rumors are true and he really does want to come back to the U, the administration needs to do everything in its power to make that happen.

Heres something people that like Mario dont wanna hear... Flowe would not have come here if Mario was coach. We would miss out on recruits and people would say Mario cant recruit

I think the larger point is that he is succeeding in every way that you measure a coach and we would like that here: 11-2, P5 conf champ, #6 in the country playing in the Granddaddy of them all bowl game. Also, the reality is that he did snatch Flowe. No one can throw out a hypothetical like, "Well, if he were in Coral Gables, he wouldn't have gotten Flowe because of...reasons..." and expect it to carry the same weight as what actually happened. The reality is that he DID land Flowe as well as the phenomenal record of this season.

As I've said before, I was skeptical of him before, but I want to deal in reality and facts and not hypotheticals. I know the BOT's and Blake are too dumb to pull out all the stops to woo him home, but the facts and reality point to this being the one concrete move that would bring our beloved program back from the death of mediocrity.

IT WON'T MATTER. He will still have our weak/outnumbered booster "support" to work with and our AD/ BOT that will surround him with the best high school level assistants money can buy.

Mario likely would have a Randy Shannon-esque type first year in recruiting during the honeymoon....though he couldn't have paid here what Flowe likely required.

Sadly, like most before him though, getting UM to pay up for a top notch coaching staff? Good ******* luck.

If we're playing in hypotheticals, then I'll say that if we beat Duke and FIU, we probably keep Height and get Flowe.

I can't defend turning down Mullen. I even have a thread about it. Patterson was not called, by Paul Dee's own admission, because Shannon "interviewed so well." All things said and done, Mullen, Patterson, Leach and Cristobol all have similar appeals to them. They are all improvements over Diaz. No reason to believe they would win a National Title, but if it gets us improving, I support it.

By the way, the Central Michigan, VT, GT and UNC performances were not lost on many recruits paying attention.

Flowe was never coming here. He was entertaining UM likely for some travel and respect for Marley.

Height you may be right. I suspect that distance from home played some role there with Auburn TRULY a few plays away from the SEC Championship and final 4.

At this point Mario is going to have to win back to back national titles at Oregon before some people finally admit it was a mistake not to even interview him.

We didnt interview anybody.

The fact yall keep bringing up Mario is whats wrong. Yes he is better than Manny Diaz...No sh*t so is alot of mfers.

This same team with Mario wins 8 games..f*ck that we could do better. Everything he is good at is negated by coming to UM. He is a good recruiter when paired with alot of money for recruiting staffs and a winning program ALREADY in place.

Still remember Mario being all in on Alin Edouard as a qb here at Miami...Edouard was like 3rd string at his juco and whatever schools he played at. The shocking thing is dude was just on a team THIS SEASON. lol

That aged well.

Riiiiight. ******* schools getting their asses handed to them so they make up some outrageous **** like this to try and make up ground.

It might be true. But even if it is true, I don’t blame Mario for that recruiting tactic.

If something works in recruiting, you should do it.

To be clear, I’m just passing along what I saw. Not saying I approve or disapprove MC’s tactics.
