I don't usually bag on kids, but this is a **** move. By the kid and his parents. A family of ****es.

And our staff is an embarrassment to cluster****s all around the globe.

I have no problem with any kid picking duke or Stanford over miami. But the family kept saying reilly was solid the whole time and wouldn't take visits anymore. More disappointed in our staff than the kid. I understand how great the education is, but it was just a shady move.

Why disappointed in the staff if his family said he was solid and not taking anymore visits?

Golden gonna faint on signing day when they interview him. Might be worse then last year.

Stanford has a new commitment. Now headed to play for the Cardinal is three-star offensive tackle Reilly Gibbons (St. Petersburg, Fla./Catholic). David Shaw and the Stanford staff flipped Gibbons from the University of Miami this weekend.
“Reilly has de-committed from Miami and is now officially committed to Stanford,” said his father Shannon Gibbons.”

Gibbons, 6-foot-6, 290-pounds, has been a long time pledge to the Hurricanes. His change of heart had nothing to do with Al Golden, the Miami program or the school itself. Gibbons just couldn’t pass on the Stanford education.

“Miami is a great school with great coaches,” Gibbons said. “It had nothing to do with them. Miami didn’t do anything wrong. It came down to getting a Stanford education and playing some great football out here in the Pac 12. Stanford has a wonderful program. It was Reilly’s decision and he really thought it through. Miami is a great place but he just couldn’t pass up on Stanford.”

Gibbons is out on an official visit to Stanford this weekend along with his father. It’s their second trip out to Palo Alto. He has notified the Miami coaching staff of his decision.

“He notified coach [Art] Kehoe and let him know,” Gibbons said.

Gibbons is the No. 29 ranked offensive tackle in the nation. He’s a converted tight end. Gibbons made the transition almost two years ago and saw his stock sky rocket this past spring. He had offers from teams coast to coast before committing to Miami back in April.

Stamford is up there with a Harvard and Yale. Miami is peanuts when you compare a Stanford degree. I am a diehard Cane fan and will do the same exact thing if I am this kid.

Well said. I bleed orange and green but the only place I would consider over the U is Stanford. Amazing place and one of the top 2 - 3 universities in the country.

But ya do have to say "WHAT NEXT?!!?!?!?"

This sucks but I can understand it. His mother's a lawyer, she probably feels that if he wants to go in that direction Stanford is a much better opportunity. If he ends up eventually in Stanford's law school he'll be able to write his ticket anywhere. Stanford is easily top 5 in law. Sorry, but UM does not compete with that. We might be pretty good compared to the big state schools in the south, but we're no Stanford.

I think he liked it out west after his Semper Fidelis all star game in Cali. Got to be where this came from.

This really sucks. He was one of my favorite guys in this class....undervalued in my opinion. I really like his tape and upside. People keep on saying OLine is our strength, but you still need numbers and depth b/c guys get hurt and/or leave early. First we lose Bunche and now Gibbons. NOT good....not good at all.

Blows donkey dck but how many kids are going to pass up a degree from Stanford? Unless this kid was all about getting to the NFL, how many people on this board would pass up a full ride to Stanford? The timing is the real dck move here by the kid.

As bad as it might sound, I can knock anyone for picking a Stanford education over Miami.
