Recruits not knowing who their position coach is

So we're unproductive, getting negative recruited, and are losing kids left and right, but the ESPN alert three minutes ago says we have the #3 class.

OP may have a bit of a point with hs recruits but irrelevant for portal guys because the future is now. No competent wr with an IQ over 50 looking for a new home should consider coming to Miami with the current set up. Why would you?

Gattis is as stubborn as any coach we've had and we've had idiots like DNo who thought 11 18-21 guys executing perfectly on a play was a good defense.

Gattis should high tail it to some place like Iowa and run his "offense" because he exhibited zero willingness to modify his approach to the reality of the material available.

Fair or not it’s his narrative. Once it exists it’s hard to shake. I’m sure he’s heard it. I’m not convinced he thinks he needs to shake it

You have to be right, because how in the world could the opposite be true? Our games were unwatchable. I'm apparently and sadly stuck being a fan. A hs recruit or transfer isn't.

I don't see how a neutral observer couldn't conclude that his stubborness isn't an issue. You going to change some or think 25 offensive guys are going to magically change?

That aggregate statistic tell you nothing about the non oline offense recruitment, which is MC driven. You remind me of the 6 foot tall statisticisn who drowned in a river averaging 5 feet.

Mario comes off as stubborn to everyone who wasn’t an oregon or Miami fan. So yeah when he gives off stubborn with no substance behind it you get WR’s running from you as fast they can. It’s actually been quite alarming

Somehow we have 4-star RBs, TEs and WRs coming in. Are they too stupid to see that they are making a poor decision?
 
Unless someone has unwavering faith in Mario and or TVD. It’s 100% a deal breaker. You spend 90% of your time in college with your position coach. If you’re a transfer you know the deal. Gambling on your position coach is like gambling with your life

Then that is a Mario issue whether fair assessment or not. What does it matter who the OC is if they are running Mario's system? I do know this: running backs, tes, and oline seem to love it.

We know each year position coaches usually get shuffled or get promoted to other programs. They tend to have shorter term contracts so longevity is always a question.

Kids, imo, should really be committing to the head guy and his vision. He is the one that likely will be around the next 4 years while a position coach is not guaranteed a spot for more than maybe 1-2 years. Maybe that is what Mario is thinking and selling. There's always exceptions but even a guy like Hartline who is the best in the biz was rumored for a HC position this year and will likely be rumored every year vacancies occur. So if I commit to OSU to be coached by Hartline in the back of my mind I am thinking the guy may be gone before I graduate. The program I commit to better have more going for it than just my position coach or I will end up disappointed.

So in the end if I commit to the head guy it is because I trust the head guy, his vision for the program, and that he will be competent enough to hire competent assistants to develop me. I don't necessarily need to know who my position coach (or OC) is. Maybe nice if I do, but should not be the deal breaker as long as I am good with the head guy.

One day: "Mario is stupid for not firing Gattis already"
Next day: "It's Mario's system and he is too stubborn to change it"

Rb’s and OL should want to play play for him.

And yes it’s a Mario issue and that’s why he hired Gattis in the first place. JG is the symptom. Liberty EL and myself have always been in the “ he’ll have to show me “ side of things when it comes to hiring a creative play caller. Until then I’m skeptical.

If this past year hasn’t taught him anything nothing will.

negative recruiting? I think he's been dealing with that for a while so just comes with the territory. Ultimately, the numbers will tell the tale of how his offensive system fairs and how it develops guys for the league or not.
