Recruiting meeting...(Video)

After watching that video, it's clear to me that this staff is out of their depth. These guys don't have a cogent philosophy and are still caught up in the debate of whether they want athletes or football players. It's also clear to me that Coley has absolutely zero clue what he is looking for and only succeeded at FSU because he was a decent salesman selling a desirable product.

We are completely fvcked with this corching staff.

Curious to know how you think other staffs do this. Do you find this approach unusual? Hmmmm.

I don't find the approach unusual. I find the fact that four plus years in this crew doesn't have a cogent philosophy as to whether they are looking for football players or athletes unusual. Winning programs know exactly what they are looking for. Losers waffle. Which one did you see in that video?

butch davis would never have a meet like this. he could look at a kid for 30 seconds and know if they were offering.

he wasnt talking about a um guy with there 4.68 because he said "jaqaun" or "quan" they also coached bernard pierce, rod streeter, and terrence knighton.

You can knock Coley for a lot of things, but recruiting is not one of them. He does a great job of evaluating talent, which I'm sure he picked up from Saban.

I think D'Onfrio's philosophy on recruiting fits his scheme: kids that can be coached to follow a scheme, rather than be playmakers. That works in the MAC, not when you are trying to win ships.

Evaluation and input from many coaches is important to a consensus. I think Hurley the only one who knows what a "Miami" guy should have, speed, explosiveness and instincts, all! Several things stood out that a really good recruiting staff should have:

1. If there isn't a consensus on a guy then move on because he's not highly regarded (by said team).
2. Watermelon Williams? Why is Miami paying him and why is he allowed to coach players!
3. Now I understand why we miss on so many of the top defenders! Donut favors perceived "smarts" over actual physical skills like speed and hitting (physicality). Any coach who does not value "speed" is doomed to fail!
4. Hurley like Butch used to say about Texas players, felt the kid, whoever he was, was a finished product and because of his limited speed and skills wouldn't be any better than his film showed.
5. There are exceptions to every rule, but you're not looking for the exception to the fast and athletic guy. Smarts is important, but just because the kid has all the physical skills you can't rule out his football intelligence as being an important factor in his excellence as a football player.

D'Onofrio said...."He backs the **** up cuz He's scared"...but He has to swivel His chair around and implore His pu$'*** DB coach to sit at the table.

Clip shows there's Dortater's opinion and then everybody else's, so the coaches give lip service. Coley aint stepping on coach D's shoes, so he goes potato. Sad.

D'Onofrio should've stopped when Hurlie said He was a 4.78, low 4.80 guy...He didn't make any good counterpoints using Seattle as an example.

How's a 4.78, low 4.80 guy, gonna play a deep ball standing 12 yards flat footed?...that's complete and utter NONSENSE!

The only one that made sense in that video was Ice Harris. Beard was laughing his *** off @ Dorito when he was talking.

Hurley too. Trying to impress upon D'No that playing Safety is one thing, playing Safety at Miami is another, a different standard.

That's on D'No. He's running the meeting, or at least this portion of it. He should have had the cot**** position coach at the table to begin with. Cat can't run a meeting, let alone a defense.

I've NEVER bought the whole "Safety is the hardest position to play" bull**** that this coaching staff has repeated over and over for the past 5 seasons.

It is only hard bcuz you have them playing 40 yards off the ball and thinking instead of reacting. Safety should be fun for some of these bangers to play. You need a ball hawk and a hitter. PLENTY of those in this state

ICE Harris, Larry Scott, and Coach Hurley : "Kid is a bit slow. Not explosive. He does well at tackling and seems very well coached. Follows his coaching to the T But the burst isnt there. The elite is not there

Corch Dorito : "He's the perfect safety for us"
