Part of the problem is some of our fans prematurely declared him better than Martinez and Fletcher last year. They are doing the same thing this year.Small sample size but can't remember one touch he's had this year (or going all the way back to the WF game last year) that justifies him being RB1 for ND, or receiving any carries over Fletcher or Brown. We might need to come to grips with Lyle just not being all that great.
Clearly, he wasn’t even close last year to being on Martinez or Fletcher’s level. We don’t really know this year if he would have been our best back due to his injury. It’s obviously slowed him down. He’s not better than Fletcher or Brown so far. It’s our own “Lyle for Heisman” fans that are creating these huge expectations for him. He can still be great, but I’m not the one thinking he’s the 2nd coming of Barry Sanders and Adrian Peterson.
