Of course we didn’t expect it to get more, or at least I didn’t, but what happens is people then stake their ground, and make their grand prognostications based on the unlearned and uninformed opinion of pudgy middle-aged men who’ve never played the sport

This is the way I see it and I know I’m nobody but follow me for a second lol.

The race is obviously really tight, meaning all 3 while having different strengths and weaknesses are at just about the same level. Now what are the chances that all 3 are studs or complete duds? I think we have 3 decent QB’s, all about the same amount of decent.

The good news is that they’re all young and that pairing a halfway decent QB with our D and playmakers is more than enough to win the coastal.
We just have to hope one of the 3 hits a different gear throughout the year and carries that into next year, then we can start talking about challenging for a playoff spot.

Because we seen Perry fold against Virginia, granted it was Richt’s play calling but still. He led a comeback against FSU I’ll give him that but an intense game against a rival shouldn’t be the only time you step up. As for Jarren he’s just as unproven as Tate. What makes me give Tate the slight edge over Jarren in terms of handling pressure is the Bishop Gorman vs St Thomas game in 2016, Tate took control of that huddle and game. Plus the fact that he’s grabbing concepts and coverages at a fast rate from a relatively new playbook and QB coach.

Let’s be honest. Tate was never Ryan Day’s “Guy”, Day was fixated on Justin Fields, if you were in the same predicament you would do the same. Sitting behind Haskins and then having to sit behind an incoming Freshman transfer. That would never fly by some of you guys if you were in his shoes. I can’t judge his leadership over Locker room politics.

Just to re-iterate: that was an OSU beatwriter stating that the Martell was the most prestigious QB recruit they have EVER HAD. Manny thought he was getting a starter. If he gets beat out, then that's the way it goes, but there is a big difference between "earning it" and not losing it. If you had to rate the QBs just before game 1 and they were all rated exactly the same, then no matter who you pick, you will be "handing the job" to a guy who didn't earn it. No one separated themselves and someone has to win the tiebreaker. You may not be aware of this, but Manny Diaz, the current HC, was Miami's DC last year. N'Kosi Perry showed his *** (literally) and was suspended twice. Diaz was there for all that. I don't think being on the roster last year endeared him to Diaz. Saying "it's an open and fair competition" is just coachspeak. If you don't think that Manny penciled in Martell as the starter when he accepted the transfer, you are living in fantasyland.

Nobody give 2 chites about what he was. The emphasis is was. That's past tense. Obviously Ohio State didn't want him anymore, so what does that say about what he "was?"

Now you just making chit up like you're in the know." You don't. You're just pouring out conjecture like all the others claiming the same BS.

OSU didn't want him because they just got the number 1 DT QB in the nation, they had no need for the number 2 4 star anymore.

Unless you've been to the closed parts of practice, you don't know what's going on. Media folks are trying their best, but they aren't getting the full picture. Trying to read tea leaves is pointless. Let the best man win.

All any of us can really go off of is what's on tape. We've seen Kosi. If you want to say that he was just bad because of the Richt offense ok, but what we saw wasn't spectacular. Good arm talent, accuracy is wanting. Jarren, who really knows. Tate, he looked good in the games he played. Not a special arm, but was accurate enough and strong enough and he showed an elusiveness that I don't *think* the other two have, albeit that all came against some real bad teams (Rutgers, Oregon St, Tulane). For what it's worth, I think Tate has the edge on tape. That probably, and shouldn't, count for much.

All I'm confident in is that our QB play is going to be much better than it has been since Kaaya left. If it's better than Kaaya, watch the **** out.

For lack of a better term could we expect Diaz/Enos to have a “fluid” QB plan; name a starter, maybe Tate, and see both how the OL gets penetrated (or holds up) and how the Defense holds. If for example Tate is just so-so and UF goes up 21-3, then putting Perry in, a risky business perhaps, but huge upside. But let’s say defense is awesome and (Tate so-so) putting us up 3-0. Might be planned to stick with Tate, less downside potential, if that’s how the game progresses.

Then Urban Meyer stepped down. Martell says he was told toward the end of the season he would be better off finding another school. Shortly after former No. 1 overall recruit Justin Fields announced he was transferring to Ohio State, Martell told the world he would transfer himself.

"The good thing that happened was that I was told, so I wasn't in a bad situation. So that's the only thing I can say that was good about the situation is I wasn't lied to."
