Qb update days before a starter is decided

Manny needs to name a starter before the 24th. The QB is your dude. You gotta let this guy walk around campus with a couple of more inches hanging down. Give the winner time to get some hair on his chest and get confident. Do it publicly so the winner can stick his finger up and let everyone know he is the U’s QB!

Any porst that includes the above phrase is doomed to fail. You may as well ask my aunt Edna what she thinks about the QB situation.

How is Aunt Edna? She still continues to keep up with the Canes after moving to Phoenix, and being dead?

Here we go with "It's Tates job to lose." A sure fire way to lose your team is to hand someone the job without earning it. You don't get to come off the street and just jump ahead of guys that have been in the program for more than a year. Any transfer, or roster player has to earn his position. Martell may earn that right, but it surely wasn't his to lose the day he walked thru the IPF doors.

Bruh, When the HC accepts a transfer QB who was the #2 QB recruit in the country (that would be considered elite in some circles), it's because he thinks he is getting a starter. If he thought he had a QB on the roster and just wants depth, then he would bring in a good prospect who would be ok with sitting on the bench if is beaten out for the starting gig. Martell transferred because he didn't want to sit another year at OSU.

He's what OSU was saying when he was recruited:

"He's definitely the most prestigious quarterback recruit they've had," said Jeremy Birmingham, a staple of the Buckeyes recruiting beat who reports at Landof10.com. "In terms of hype, you probably have to go all the way back to Terrelle Pryor [in 2008], but he was more of a project."

Just to re-iterate: that was an OSU beatwriter stating that the Martell was the most prestigious QB recruit they have EVER HAD. Manny thought he was getting a starter. If he gets beat out, then that's the way it goes, but there is a big difference between "earning it" and not losing it. If you had to rate the QBs just before game 1 and they were all rated exactly the same, then no matter who you pick, you will be "handing the job" to a guy who didn't earn it. No one separated themselves and someone has to win the tiebreaker. You may not be aware of this, but Manny Diaz, the current HC, was Miami's DC last year. N'Kosi Perry showed his *** (literally) and was suspended twice. Diaz was there for all that. I don't think being on the roster last year endeared him to Diaz. Saying "it's an open and fair competition" is just coachspeak. If you don't think that Manny penciled in Martell as the starter when he accepted the transfer, you are living in fantasyland.

Offense dialed back? Enos calls plays to their strengths. But what I’ve seen is he keeps drives alive.

okay il take your word for it. the more and more reports that come out, the more and more it seems that all 3 are just meh. hopefully, the chosen guy is accurate (so far they're all meh) and can give us some semblance of an explosive offense.

i dont think you know **** but keep going. if a guy isnt performing to his expectations, he doesnt deserve to start (that goes for all 3). from every report were reading, tate isnt lighting it up and neither are the other two (hence why its even).

Still think Tate. Enos rather have the guy who thinks like a coach and can elude the rush because oline is still a question mark. He will just need to adjust his pass plays to Tate's skills. More roll out, quick slants, and safe throws, etc. Take shots downfield every now and then if they start to take away throws underneath.

from what iviNs said in his cast, that's what they generally run w tate in the 11 on 11s. personally, i hate it, but whoever wins wins. idk if any of the three are good enough for 8/24. every report we get is theyre all the same as they were and reads like theyre trash. lets go defense.

Just based on my observations with no bias. The center of the line seems to be the strongest with DJ, Cory and Nav.
Jarren has been the best to step up into the pocket when there is pressure, and has made the best runs up the middle.
Tate has not been the very effective when extending the plays running towards the sidelines, and when he completed
passes in these situations most have gone for no gain. If Tate shows out in this upcoming scrimmage he might
win out, but I believe both Kosi and Jarren have an edge going into Sat.

till he throws 3 picks and gets benched lol.

Based on what exactly?

based on the repots were reading. none of what jackson or any of the practice reports on this site have given you a nice fuzzy feeling. we can lie to ourselves, but idk if we have a QB out of the 3. i do think JWs ceiling is the highest, but idk if it'll enough like i said before.

Ok rewind what you just said- none of the 3 deserves to start. Guess what- one of the 3 undeserving QBs will be named the starter, unless you think DJ Dallas will be our starting QB. Let's get ready for lots of Wildcat!

Manny has to pick someone, and it will probably be the top rated QB that he brought in from the outside, unless Martell is actually outperformed by another QB on the roster.

Preach. I trust our QB coach, and I like our overall talent at the position. And I love our skill talent.

How about Darnold at USC? He was the backup to sorry *** Max Brown to start the season a few years ago. These dudes act like picking a starting QB is a math problem with a definite answer. It’s all opinion based on practice, which is NOTHING like a real game situation for a QB.

I’m confident that we will eventually find our gamer out of this group and that the offense will start rolling as the season progresses.
It was clear during the spring and summer that Darnold was the best QB leading up to that season. However, Max Browne being a once heralded recruit who waited his time was given the nod. One of Clay Helton issues is that he plays favorites. If Manny play favorites like Helton did; then we are in trouble. He needs to play the best qb and put him in the best position to win.

again, no horse in this derby, in Enos I trust

But Id like to think that whoever is named the starter, Enos will then tailor or tweak that particular system/game plan to the strengths of whoever is QB1 at that time. Perhaps these guys are having certain struggles as Enos wants to find out exactly how limited certain guys are at particular things. We all know that Tate, for instance, is much more comfortable playing out of the shotgun/spread look, rather than under center

Sometimes you have to find out just how limited your guys are to really craft your style of play moving forward

ok cool opinion. ill wait for enos since "oh he transferred here, so he must start" doesnt really help.

I think 2 QBs will play vs UF, and Kosi will be one of them. I could careless about who plays/starts as long as they put us in position to win.
