They did. The wording is interesting though.

'Tuesday morning, ACC commissioner Jim Phillips also addressed the Protect College Sports Act’s advancement. In a statement, he said the conference would continue to support the bill as it goes to the House.


“The Senate’s passage of the Protect College Sports Act represents an important step in the ongoing discussions surrounding the future of college athletics,” Phillips said. “We appreciate the bipartisan work that brought the bill to this point and, as the process moves to the House, we will continue supporting all 18 of our member institutions as they engage directly with Congress and other stakeholders.”'

@OrangeBowlMagic I'm curious why you don't think the bag game will return once a cap is in place?

Let's say the cap is 22.5M for revenue sports and UTX is at or near that cap when an athlete they want becomes available. What's to stop their boosters from paying under the table for that athlete? Miami wants that same kid but also has hit its cap. Do you think the NCAA will investigate UTX as aggressively as Miami?

Maybe I misunderstand the situation? Just feels like another way to introduce corruption to me.

I think the proper term is “ resumption “ of corruption. Which was interrupted by the present usage of PORTAL/NIL.

You think a lame duck Congress is going to go after Epstein and Hegseth impeachment? You may be right about this one being DOA. But I wouldn't base that on any serious legislation or investigation taking priority.
 
For perspective, the House Black Congressional caucus has 58 members. That's alot of votes against the bill.
Then add 30-40 members of the House Freedom caucus, where I could see limited enthusiasm for the bill.
So right off the bat you could have close to 100 House folks against the bill.
That's not enough to kill it but Hakeem Jeffries has a lot of pull with the Dems in general.

They don’t need that many House Dems to defect for it to pass and the expectation is it will get at least 50ish D votes (very possibly more)

I hope optimists are right, but I think this thing is 100% passing during the lame duck session. Too much bipartisan support and just not that publicly controversial . Bill polls extremely well because people are stupid and there’s been no organized pushback.

The fact that they’re even talking about recalling the House before the midterms (as unlikely as that is to happen) tells you how motivated they are to get this pile of **** passed. It’s Trump’s top legislative priority (LOL) and even after the likely massacre coming in the midterms, he is still kingmaker in the GOP. They’ll do what they’re told.

im saying thats why canadian and cancun lover rafael cruz is wrong about the house coming back for this. they wont be back before midterms given that theyre going after the drunk sec def first before a college sports bill if they come back and mike johnson doesnt want to risk that and would rather watch his kid jerk off.

No Democrat, if they win the house, is going to give Trump a win. And there’s gonna be more than one Republican that is out of a job because of their support for Trumps agenda. Couple that with guys like Massie and the house freedom caucus who not only have issues with the foreign student athletes provisions but things like giving out anti trust exemptions as well. I think it’s more than likely Johnson lets it go to the rules committee to just sit until the end of the year.
