Only thing that surprises me is I would have presumed UNC to vehemently oppose any provision that would restrict its ability to move.

That article suggested that the ACC Commissioner hired DLA Piper (as did UNC), which actively lobbied Congress up through June or July, and at no point did they expressly oppose 205 or propose, on behalf of the ACC, alternative language (which Cruz’s people apparently solicited). I could be reading more into it than I should, but really strange that UNC hasn’t been more vocal.

Ross is correct here. But not everything he has is right i.e. he wrote Miami sued the ACC w/ FSU.

UNC wants out because they are the SEC’s #1 choice before any other school in America. The B1G is interested in them; & They were also one of the 3 schools (Clemson + FSU) who voted against adding Berkeley, Stanford, and SMU.

The thing that ****es me off it was their ****** commissioner and his nepo baby son who caused all these revenue problems

I'm not privy to the creation of this legislation, but the conference cap at 19 is utterly stupid. Why?! Who is that for?

Even if you're the Big 10 and the SEC, there is no reason to tie yourself down like that. Who knows how the economic picture will look in 2030. You always want to, as they say, keep your options open.

Just get rid of that, and the Limiting player compensation, and you have an okay bill. But Washington being Washington loves to **** everything up.

They could change the cap to 20 and probably everybody would be in favor of it. 20 gives 6 more teams an opportunity to join the P2.

He’s far from the only money behind it. Lots of entities have thrown their hat in this ring.

For example, this bill originally was to lay ground work for full tv rev share among all fbs teams. I believe, but I’m not 100% positive, Campbell was a supporter of this. All fbs teams joining together for tv deals would have created more money for everyone, and would have cost networks a lot more. Of course the SEC (ESPN) and the BIG (Fox) threw their weight, and money, into things to shut that down.

Just sloppy with the details. They say the SCORE ACT was a much more partisan bill than the PCSA yet they make ZERO mention that the score act at one point in time had support from the CBC; and was even introduced by two Black Democrats on opposing sides of the country at one point; in Oregon and Alabama. They say a source told them:

This makes no sense whatsoever given the contents of the PCSA; as they largely do similar things.

Even so, Scalise just wants an ego boost and is upset that ted Cruz + the senate will get the win & not him. He literally says he has talked to both of them about reconvening the house, the talks have been positive on getting something done but it’s up to Mike Johnson who openly left the possibility

The next time Johnson and Scalisle defy the president on a bill he wants done, will be the first time. They will fall in line and move promptly once it passes the senate and they get their marching orders; along with their partisan colleagues.

The only real intrigue is whether Scott and Moody will have the political wherewithal to be the only two GOP senators voting no next week. If so, then the part of this article about the Florida house being opposed would come to fruition but that’s not going to be enough if 25 to 55 democrats defect.

Marie G Perez and Jared golden have routinely been doing so even on the smallest scale. They are not going to vote with the democrats lol. Meanwhile other Blue dog democrats will gladly cross the aisle to appear bipartisan and like a grown-up despite the dem opposition.

The house dem opposition lost its united strength when the majority of their senate counterparts openly sided with the GOP; including Chuck Schumer, Brian Schatz, and so forth.

Nothing in the spoiler contradicts the PCSA. Mf just wants to be the heroic big man on campus and is upset he gotten beat to the courtyard. His ‘opposition’ is completely evanescent

Randy Levine called Chris Murphy to try to lobby him on the bill and Chris Murphy didn’t know who he was so he got offended lmfao.

Murphy told him the bill was anticapitalist and anti-American and Levine said that competing business organize under one umbrella in the NFL so it’s no issue for the NCAA to do it. Then when Murphy mentioned collective bargaining and employees and so on, they went back in forth, and after using the “it works in the NFL,” argument, he asks Chris if was in favor of professional athletes coming back to college to play.

This is the logic of the ppl pushing this through. Let’s make this like the nfl but this also has gotten too professionalized & it needs to stop lmfao.

Wouldn’t it have just caused a Streisand effect that shined a light on the work they do and given how the Supreme Court, altogether in a 9-0 ruling, lambasted the NCAA at large—have easily struck down an attempt by Congress + ncaa to make it illegal for the athletes to ever have employee protections?

IMHO the neutrality taken by the PCSA on this issue was strategic because they recognized the weakness of that position. By avoiding it, it stays out of sight and out of mind.

There is zero, literally ZERO chance that the House comes back in session before the midterms. Johnson would have a revolt in his caucus given how many of his members are fighting for their jobs. Not to mention the little issue of the Hegseth impeachment articles that they adjourned the House early to avoid…

Not worth arguing. Anything is possible in politics. Just gotta watch it playout. But if this bill was such a slam dunk sure fire pass then levine and trump wouldn't be waging a public PR against the florida delegation. Truth is the house is a very different animal then the senate and likely wont even think about taking this up until mid nov. Enjoy the season and prepare for a bar fight around Thanksgiving.
