Miami has landed one of its favorite and long-awaited targets this cycle with the commitment of four-star safety Andre Hyppolite.



A 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect from North Miami Beach who’s seen his recruitment blow up over recent months, Hyppolite was largely off the radar for most top schools heading into this past spring.

That’s because the four-star isn’t like most recruits we see today — no camps, no media attention and no 7-on-7 circuits. Despite this, Miami continued its impressive evaluations, both finding and making Hyppolite a priority well before other major schools.

A do-it-all player on both sides of the ball for his North Miami Beach side, Hyppolite tallied 63 tackles and five interceptions on defense while playing both quarterback and wide receiver on offense.

His rise from a mid-tier three star to a top-10 safety in the country is clear in his instincts. He’s a field general who sees the game well and can be a ballhawk when needed.

Hyppolite consistently adjusts his body to make plays on the ball and is unafraid to crash and make tackles — a skill that will continue to grow as he puts on weight at the next level.



After back-to-back weeks of double digit visitors, Miami only hosted Hyppolite on its third official visit weekend. The one-on-one environment paid dividends with the four-star, as the staff made major inroads with Hyppolite and his family, ultimately securing the commitment before planned visits to Notre Dame and Georgia.

North Miami Beach and head coach Jeff Bertani have a history of these underrated defensive back prospects, with Kemal Ishmael, E.J. Biggers, Louis Delmas and Jonathan Cyprien as NFL-level guys who bring high-IQ to the position.

Hyppolite joins another local four-star in Jaylyn Jones to make up the Hurricanes 2027 safety class — both bringing elite instincts and feel for the position.

The local safety chose Miami over schools like Florida, Notre Dame, Georgia and Minnesota.

With his commitment, UM holds pledges from 19 players this cycle, good for a top-2 recruiting class across every major recruiting platform.

Miami will now focus on securing wide receiver Eli Woodard before re-evaluating its board to play the long game with top prospects and zero in on senior risers to join the class.

If we have the season we hope and expect, Poyser is going pro. The most unheralded DB on the team. But he’s a good one.

If today was 6 Years ago our recruiting board has a 600 page thread on nick lennear going to Bama, an 800 page thread on Sears going to Georgia, and a 1000 page thread on Brysen Wright going to OSU.

I was thinking the exact same thing last week. Poyser might have to really ball out and head for the draft if not..will he be able to keep Dunnigan on the bench for another year? Definitely reminds me of the "Charles Pharms/Herbert James" situation from the 1991 squad.

Even after seeing Scott and Thomas last season? The Great Depression is over, we're good now, you can take your money out from under your mattress and start living again.

Hall ended up with the bartender at Utah State IIRC. Had the same type of performances for them, too. I thought he'd be a good one just like you.
