If this hire came after a comprehensive nation wide search, I'd be more excited. It does not feel that way.

How does that impact your excitement? One has nothing to do with the other, am I wrong?

I'd be more ready to accept the Butch hire if I knew we held an honest search consisting of candidates outside of the "MIAMI GUYZ!" bubble.

If we aggressively pursued coaches I feel are better qualified, and failed, it would make it easier to embrace this hire. But if we simply hired Butch without exploring other options, it strikes me as lazy and a disservice to this program.

Yeah, you've said that.

About 50 times already.

I was asked a question, and responded.

Thanks for keeping count, though. I guess since you can't afford to track Big Foot my posts are the next best thing.

All this Butch disrespect is crazy. He got you a ring in 01'. Stfu & let the man do his thing. We're gonna have that mean pro-style/4-3 canes football back.

Wait until we end up not landing the studs and winning only 7 or 8 next year. People will lose their minds when they realize the sport no longer supports a recruiter in chief.

I'm neither confidant or deflated by a Butch return, but I do think this class would close very solid if Butch is hired. And there is a lot of talent on the roster now. I am more worried about years 2 and 3. He isn't young, and he hasn't been close to the game. Hiring him will have some zing to it initially. Can he still coach and maintain the energy in recruiting is the worrisome question.
I'll probably get down voted for even suggesting this but is it possible that opposing coaches actually use Butch to negative recruit us by insinuating that he'll have us on probation again? Most of these kids probably do not even realize that he was cleared in the UNC case but that won't stop the Saban's and Meyers's of the world from using scare tactics.

I'm more worried they will use his age and a likely short tenure here to negative recruit against him. All the more reason the assistants he hires is critical.

Now I know that's a bit of sarcasm.....

But he does get big-time DTs - Damione Lewis was #1 in the country, Marvin Austin was #1 (UNC) and others were up there - Adrian Wilson, Joseph, Wilfork....

Personally, I think it'd be a larger surprise if he didn't get a big-time DT this year. We're thin on the DL and Butch will now be the guy with the best resume to show prospective DL recruits....

Yep. Recruiting going to heat up awful quickly....

I'll make a quick prediction: we'll get one of the top 3 DTs in the country. #1 is from NJ (Rashan Gary), #2 is from Florida (Shavar Manuel) and #3 is from NC (Dexter Lawrence). These are all areas that Butch knows well....

I'll go with Manuel....He did well in the Tampa area with big-time recruits the first go round (Quincy Hipps, Andrew Williams, Kenny Kelly)...

Shaq just solidified his commitment to us...that's how I know it's Butch

This is Butch we're talking about, mojombo! He gone get all 3!!!!!

I guess we're supposed to believe Butch Davis is a better coach and a better fit at his old school than John Robinson, Johnny Majors and Mike Riley with Petrino still pending along with being on par with Bill Snyder. He is supposed to be the exception to the rule in this case.

None of those guys had an interim stint at UNC where they dominated the ACC like Butch did.

Has any other coach won at UNC in just three years or did they have longer?

4 years.

you do realize they were ready to roll in year 3 when all the crap hit
they were loaded

That is convenient reasoning. They had two years at 8-5 with a bad offense. With the same staff and QB, we're just going to assume they were gonna make the leap to 11 wins? Ok.

Good night, Gators & Noles. Alabama better start producing their own WRs - cause SoFla is closed.

All the crap caused by the bag man that Butch hired?

There's always some qualifier with the cult. He was going to win 66 NCs at UM but he left before he could show his genius. He was about to blow up at UNC, but the school fcked him over.

Butch returning to the U = Bill Snyder returning to KSU. Get ready

Snyder's first time at KSU has been more successful so far.

He almost played in the title game in his 2nd stint unlike his first lol.. That In itself was major.

Bill Snyder, Kansas St.

1989-2005: 1 conference title, 7x 10+ win seasons, 1-1 in the Fiesta Bowl

2009-present: 1 conference title, 2x 10 win seasons, 0-1 in the Fiesta Bowl

You do understand your comparing 10 win seasons and a 1 bowl game difference. His 1st stint is 17 years and his current stint is 7 years.. Does that really make sense to you to make that comparison?

NONE have the recruiting base Butch will have.

Not even USC?

Come on son...I'm with you on doing due diligence on everybody outside of Butch, but you can't possibly be talking about SoCal talent compared to SoFla. There's no other area in the country like it. NOWHERE.

so he had a bag man pay players that were there before he got there?
most of the suspensions were upper classmen

butch bashers hate facts

and where did I say Butch was my choice, just trumping your dumb arguments
