What is the other part of lashlees playbook? Does it resemble sonny dykes at smu or Gus at auburn. I hope the former. I think Garcia compares favorably to Shane buchele at smu so hopefully when Jake is ready to play he will go in that direction

The other part?

Simple.

Instead of running inside zone just to the right of the center for no gain, we will run inside zone just to the left of the center for no gain.

I kid....

Regarding the "other half of the playbook," I'll add this. The biggest failure's we've seen from Canes teams since donna ****lala began destroying the program was the inability to hire AND RETAIN quality play callers. Lashlee, King and the entire offense are now in year two of working together in the same system. I have to believe there will be things they can do this year that might not have been prudent to attempt last year.

Agreed. Losing both springs sucks but I don’t think a kid like King will be effected much this year

Everyone rips on Patke but we had the best kicker & punter in America last year. Idc if they transferred from mars. We all would take the credit for them if we were in his shoes. I’d like to see our return game tighten up a bit tho.
Oh, god. Our kicking coverage sucks. We never get close to blocking kicks and we can’t return kicks, very well.

We haven’t hired a play caller worth retaining on 30 years.

Yeah, I’m not really sure how much Patke played a role in it but Hedley and Borregales both played better at Miami than they had at their previous schools. Hedley averaged under 40 yards per punt at JC and Borregales went from 72% at FIU to 91% at Miami. Can I say that’s a direct result of Patke’s coaching? Not really but they did get a lot better here.
As to Chef Jose, I can't say why is accuracy improved, but good for Miami.

Louie Louie played JC ball in San Fran🤮 in a very "high winds is the norm" environment if memory serves correctly.

Yeah I remember reading about how his team was more focused on him directionally punting than actually booming them. There was no shortage of panic here when word got out we signed a JUCO punter who only averaged 38 yards per kick or something like that. "He's just another Feagles!!!!"

But the kicking game is a mystery to me. Why some guys are better than others and what exactly goes into improving kicking is far beyond my football knowledge.
