As they say the truth usually lies somewhere between the two extremes. From my vantage point Peter has done a very good job of giving "highlights," which is typically what fans expect to hear. To me, they sound pretty much like they do every year this time of year, e.g., Kendal Thompkins is elusive when he gets the ball in space, hard to tackle, and looks great. Let's hope this year that's really the case. At the end of the day, take these reports for what they are: "highlights" that may or may not translate in the Fall.
