Potential Two Deep lets discuss

That's a really really stupid way of looking at it Brock & I mean really stupid.

One injury & the 4th or 5th Corner will absolutely play & there's a good chance whoever that CB is will be very inexperienced, which means they'll be prone to mistakes.

Stop trying to argue with me about CB's Brock, I already know where you stand, everything's fine & we don't need any CB's, I got it...

But if you think having only 4 playable CB's is anything other than scary thin with no depth you're simply too delusional to have the discussion with. NO POWER 5 WINNING TEAMS HAVE JUST 4 CB's... NONE.
Bandy going pro was devastating and while I absolutely loved that kids game, him going pro having such a drastic effect on us should never happen

In the 12 games we play, we have the on paper talent advantage in all 12. FSU is close but King gives us a definite edge even on them.

Talent isn't going to be the issue. Sure Clemson is on another level but nobody we play during the regular season is going to outclass on in terms of players

I think Jalen Rivers has a chance to start as a true freshman. Not sure if that's good or terrifying, but he's a talented kid and it's the biggest weakness on the team. I'm hoping Zion makes a huge jump and the new offense helps but a grad transfer would really help. Are there any good ones left in the portal?

I'm much less concerned about the lack of depth at cornerback because of the tremendous depth at safety (and Ed Reed in their ear). We can shield inexperienced cornerbacks by running schemes with 3 safeties routinely.

What I hope is that the grad transfers are mature older guys who can really light a fire and fix the culture. Ed Reed helps here too

Didn't Trajan play nickel his freshman year? Wasn't he the one with the pick six against ND??

Y'all need to chill on this cb depth narrative. This is CFB, freshman play.
If you don't see the drastic difference in what Bandy was as a CB coming out of HS in comparison to the two kids who are converted WR's that barely played CB & have to be taught the position in college, then I simply can't help you.

We have 4 stars everywhere at WR. It’s not their fault That the last OC was a stupid, stubborn mule, and their QBs were party animals. There’s plenty of talent there to light up the Coastal.

I agree and I believe these WR’s will be excited to play in this system. The way Lashlee’s offense feeds WR’s, we should start see receivers going in the top 3 rounds on the regular again.

You don't know how the freshman will play. Freshman play. We have sophomores with experience stepping into roles. You are being dramatic. Why does the sky have to be falling? It's like ppl are looking for **** to complain about to fit their narrative.

Okay, dude....you know better than everyone else. Happy?

As if we knew Mike Jack was gonna become what he did or redwine at safety. It is not a dire situation. We have been in way worse at cb before. We have talented freshmen AND sophomores with experience. You don't play six corners on the field at the same time

Yeah - Bandy was a natural CB who already understood the nuances of the position. I’m disappointed in his Jr year - and his decision to leave.

The two youngsters will have to be developed. But, I’m actually more excited about their upside.

I didn't say the sky was falling, but if you think CB isn't an issue then you either didn't watch any games last year or you simply just don't get it in general...

Clarke is a developmental prospect that will have to be taught how to play CB in college, he barely played it in HS & when he did he was rarely if ever in Press man.

It's not about me knowing better than everyone else, I did play & coach CB so in this particular instance I do know a lil of what I'm talking about, but I'm simply pointing out that we have very little depth & very little experience at CB.

I'm not being dramatic, I'm stating the facts as they are, if the truth ****es yall off then just be delusional & believe what you want it makes no difference to me. You'll see it with your own eyes in the season in games when we play teams that will attack our weaknesses on Defense which will be defending the Deep ball on the outside & quick passing game underneath.

Just put the the tape on of UNC, CMU, Va Tech, GTech, FIU & Duke of last year, unless you're blind or retarded anyone can see the CB group needs a lot of work & having only 4 playable Corners with two raw Summer/Fall camp TF's that will need reps is not anywhere close to an ideal situation or the best we can do.

But as I said before, yall will learn the hard way.

I sure hope Ivey and Hall get benched by the younger guys. I don't need to see anymore blown assignments or missed tackles out of those two guys.

No, we have maybe 2-3 1st team all acc and that's it. Maybe once these guys develop.

I don’t think CB is as big an issue as y’all think.. as long as 4 of 4 can stay healthy of Blades, Ivey, Couch, Williams then we are good. Our 4th and 5th DB’s on the field last year were Safeties. Our Safeties will be even better this year and will help mask that CB depth..

I'm excited to see what Williams can do when given a chance. I thought he always looked good on special teams, he is a big dude. Looks plenty fast. He is the dark horse to be the guy we need at CB to lock down one side. But I may be reaching....lol
It'll probably be Blades. And then we are stuck hoping and praying on the other side of the field...

Offense 1st team/2nd team/Sometimes 3rd team

QB D'Eriq King/Nkosi Perry

HB Cam'Ron Harris JR/Knighton (Burns will get more short yardage situations)

WR Jeremiah Payton/Wiggins (I think he passes Wiggins. Redding as third string)

WR Mark Pope JR/Worsham/Few

SLOT K. Smith/Mike Harley/Restrepo (Harley is not very good. Makes a play every few games. Solid backup. I think a true FR takes it)

TE Brevin Jordan/Mallory

LT Zion/Herbert (Zion shows improvement)
LG Campbell/Donaldson (Campbell takes it from the whale)
C Corey Gaynor/Traore
RG Jakai Clark/Reed
RT DJ Scaife/Rivers (I could see Rivers sliding inside but we need tackle depth)

Defense
SDE Gregory Rousseau/Harvey

DT Miller/Ford (Miller takes it if the coaches are smart)

DT Nesta Silvera/Blissett

WDE Quincy Roche/Phillips (our defensive ends will be scary)

SLB Brooks/Steed

MLB McCloud/Jennings/Joyner

STR/Will Frierson or Huff/K. Washington (out of necessity as backup or technically third string)

CB Al Blades/Christian Williams

CB Tecory Couch/Ivey/Dunson (I think Couch or Dunson surprise. Ivey had moments but also was horrific part of the time)

SS Gurvan Hall/K Smith

FS Bubba Bolden/Carter

nickel guy from time to time: Avantae W.

Specialist
K Jose Borregales RSR (Former 3 star)
P Louis Hedley RSR (Former 3 star, returning starter)

I think that is enough to go 10-2 with losses to UNC and VT. Maybe 11-2 (one of UNC/VT in ACC CG) with bowl game. King was a great get and Lashlee/Justice will be much better fits for personnel and philosophy. Special teams and kicking should be best overall in a long time. Schedule is awful, too.

True freshmen to play:

-Knighton
-Chaney
-K. Smith
-Redding
-Worsham or Restrepo (one of them)
-Rivers
-Austin-Cave (maybe)
-Avantae W.
-Dunson
-Maybe Harrell

Also (to reiterate):
-I think Couch starts at one cb spot
-Campbell takes guard job
-Zion improves from worst tackle to middle of the tackle pack in D1 (yay)
-Jordan wins Mackey award in new offense
-Maybe a potentially 'weird' OL with: Zion, Campbell, Clark at Center, Rivers at guard, and Scaife.
-Our defensive ends break some kind of UM sack record this year
-King/Lashlee improve us a lot but King is third best ACC qb behind Lawrence and Howell.

This thread is not about coaching, I repeat not about coaching

There is some serious talent in the potential two deep. This team has a long way to go to become a championship level team, but in my opinion there is enough talent on this team to make it to the ACC championship.

QB D'Eriq King RSR (Former 3 star, 2018 AAC Offensive player of the year)
HB Cam'Ron Harris JR (Former 4 star with starting experience)

WR Mark Pope JR (Former 4 star)
SLOT Mike Harley SR (Former 4 star, returning starter)
TE Brevin Jordan (Former 4 star, returning starter, 2019 First Team All ACC )

C Corey Gaynor RJR (Former 3 star, returning starter)
RG Jakai Clark SO (Former 3 star, returning starter)

Defense 2nd team
SDE Jahfari Harvey RFR (Former 4 star)
DT Jordan Miller RSO (Former 3 star)
DT Jason Blissett RFR (Former 4 star)
WDE Jaelan Phillips RJR (Former 5 star)

FS Keontra Smith SO (Former 4 star)

Do you think this is enough talent to make it to the ACC Championship game and actually be competitive?
