Potential staff

Let’s say Mario becomes coach like many have been clamoring for who do u think/want the staff to be it’s pretty much a given Alex Miraball will come with him to be o line coach. Would you guys keep any current coaches on staff and who if so
The RB coach, T-Rob, DVD maybe the TE coach. Don't care about the rest.

I looked at this just before the Michigan St game (I knew we'd lose) and noticed a few things.

About half of the guys on Mario's current staff are west coast &/or Pac-12 lifers. Like Yates and Mastro, Wilson and Big Joe. Those guys probably aren't leaving the west coast. Which is fine, because I took it to mean Mario was prioritizing guys familiar with the region and would do the same at Miami.

Mirabal is about as set in stone as it gets. Rod Chance is Oregon's DVD. Dude's bio even points out he's from Ft Lauderdale and went to St Thomas. So you'd think he'd come too, even if its for an off field role.

Special teams/TE coach Bobby Williams was a longtime Saban guy. LSU, Dolphins and Alabama. But Mario got him to come to Oregon. He's a guy Mario seems to trust. Not sure what he'd do about Fields if he brought Williams.

I know a lot of people on here love Likens, but you'd have to think Bryan McClendon would be coming with him. Before going to Oregon, McClendon was an SEC lifer. It makes him a decent fit. And he coached with T-Rob at SC.

So... I could see Mirabel, Field/Willams, McClendon, T-Rob (Mario knows what his value is). DVD and/or Chance would probably get another secondary spot, with the other (or both) going to an off field position.

That leaves a few spots open, including both coordinators.

One name I'm gonna throw out there again... Kevin Patrick?

Mario can:
- motivate
- kids love him but in a Butch way
-Recruit
-Builds a strong physical type SEC type team
-has strong physical trench bullies
- knows S Fla
- knows winning at Miami
- worked under the greatest coach of all time so knows how a program these days works.

Not sure he would win a title but all these reasons are a great starting point for what we need.
Agree on all points but can we get him?

No.

About 20 years ago I sat in a meeting with a Fortune 500 CEO. In that meeting, the CEO said one thing that has always stuck with me "I don't look for survivors in a train wreck." We are witnessing a train wreck.

What the **** has Field done? This is so confusing to me. Jordan was whatever. Mallory is trash. Recruiting at TE has been underwhelming. So confused with the Field hype.

I'd keep TRob....but i'd leave it up to the new HC. First, his CB class is **** as ****. We haven't seen that in god knows how long. Second, the DBs this year look like @ss bc they are playing in Manny's garbage scheme. You have to begin to wonder if he's able to teach them his bump techniques and if Manny dictates which DBs play.

TRob had Hargreaves and Tabor looking good at UF. He coached Horn SCarolina and got Israel Mukuamu in the pros. I would give him a year under a better coach to see what he can do. I don't care about anyone else.

Justice would be my first to go. That offensive line is an embarrassment. ZERO toughness or accountability across the board. This OLine plays like a bunch of cement footed teenage girls playing Pat-A-Cake.

None of these dudes deserve to be defended on this staff, but for argument's sake:

Brevin was better than whatever, he was a top tier college tight end that got hurt a lot.

Hodges was a confusing take.

Arroyo is early days but quite promising and a nice pull. Brantley seems like an HBack / Big Slot.

The real black eye for Field is the stunted development of Mallory. He barely looks serviceable. Almost seems like he had an injury and never came back fully, plus he can’t catch ****.

If Mario is the guy, Fields is staying somewhere in staff. Remember Manny plucked him from Oregon. I’d say T-Rob and DVD are the only others worth a shot. Personally I’d clean house except for a couple of the local support guys. Cooney needs to go solely on Wiggins & Pope.

Fields ain’t done shît lol. But if Mario is the next guy he might keep him around off field. I think he was in a off field role at oregon a few years ago

Diaz got fields from Louisville

I agree. He's spent far more time as recruiting coordinator at different stops than as an on field coach. I only included him because someone mentioned he's close to Mario. But yeah that doesn't make sense to me. Why let him leave Oregon if they're close? I have a hard time believing Williams wouldn't come with him unless he retired, which would bump Field to off field if he's kept at all.

Yep. Recruiting coordinator. Field's held that position at 3 or 4 different schools.

Miami has been Field’s dream school for his entire life and his kid was in Miami, so Mario supported the move. Eriksen recommended him to Mario. Since then, those two have become very tight. No chance he’s not retained in some capacity if Mario took the job.

Nothing here outside of recruiting, my take for him staying (although im not against a full clean slate, the stench of this staph as a whole is too much) would be based on his name, reputation and the hopeful assumption that Mandy's trash scheme is the bigger crutch to DBs than him.
The X's and O's aren't causing the lack of PBU's, poor tackling, or bad angles taken from safeties. 1 int, 3 PBU's and a FF all season from the S position. Also one of the most embarrassing plays (Hall) and some really bad penalties (Williams) + the typical chit from Bolden
