Post-Game Reaction (For Rational People Only)

I have been downvoted to Bolivia on /cfb reddit for saying it was a free hit, our roster needs purging and that I'm hugely encouraged by the strides we've made under the coaching staff.

Apparently I'm meant to have cried all night and flipped all of the tables in my house because we lost a game of football to a more talented team on the road.

Fans are weird, man.

That's a lazy comparison. Enos was not effective running the ball or passing. You can shít on Gattis pass calling but he's not running single back with 9 foot QB drops. Enos was a different level of incompetence.
What about Enos with TVd , an older , experienced OL? Mario / Mirabal coaching the ol? Enos at least had J freaking Williams at qb , Zion playing T as a 285 pound True FR as well as multiple other Fr on the line.

Two things that worried me the most:

1. The series where we got into the red zone and ran three straight running plays and kicked a field goal. Even the announcers were scratching their heads on why we didn’t even attempt a pass there

2. The fact that A&M were missing four guys from their secondary and we still couldn’t get WRs open. That to me is very, VERY alarming

Your right. But the outrage seems insincere. There are posters on here who said this was an 8-4 team prior to the season. So I better not see any outrage from them. I said we should go 9-3. And I had this as an L. I’m upset, but I’m not ready to make drastic changes. Not time for that yet. I do think we need to shrink the lineup. At this point, Mario should know who is warriors are. As we go into ACC play, we need to ride with them.
Agreed. Same page. This is not the time to overreact, but the time to react intentionally.

Bum? Nah but he’s more Enos with his concepts than Lashlee. Just being honest. I’m very unimpressed.
Cribby you think if we had a stable of WRs like Ohio State, or Alabama teams with Smith, Waddle, Juedy, or LSU with Chase l, Jefferson, and Marshall that our offense would go more vertical. To be honest without dynamic wideouts it seems offenses become stale. Bama offense looks stale this year cause they are in the same situation this year with no dynamic wrs. I guess what I'm asking is if Gattis has a good qb and dynamic wrs would the offense look dominant in your opinion.

I've said before you cant fix 2+ years of damage from top to bottom in only 8 months. I didnt like the result of the game because A&M is not good and may only win 7 games. Overall I like where this program is headed, especially when the LB & WR rooms are fixed, and they will be with a couple of recruiting cycles.
It's honestly longer than 2 years of damage.

I don't give a **** what the recruiting rankings / ratings say - the evaluations were off. The only players that pop out of the screen on our roster are the COVID kids - the ones that weren't able to take their visits during that summer, so ended up staying home.

As I've said before, Al Golden was our best recruiter in recent years. A good number of his players have had NFL careers. For all of his hype, Richt recruited poorly and so did Diaz.

It's a complete rebuild, but we knew that already.

I’m not going to blame TVD but there seems to be no chemistry with him and the WR’s.

TVD’s lost his boys, Harley, Rambo, and X. And last year he was the second string QB. It’s been said that’s everyone’s favorite position. Last year he had the benefit of coming off the bench with no pressure. Manny was on the way out and Lashlee just let him go out and hang loose.

This year he’s learning a new system and the plays take a while to develop. Between the drops and the routes, I haven’t seen him find his groove.

Not inserting Garcia as an answer here but I am curious what the chemistry between him and these WR’s would be. Hear about them practicing together and coming into the U together. Sometimes the answer isn’t the better player but the guy everyone would rally around.

Imho, it’ll take 3 classes and 3 more seasons, at the least, for this team to take the next step. We having glaring holes all over this roster, and we need to stack talent. That’s how Saban did it. That’s how Kirby did it. That’s how we’re going to do it.

Game was already decided by the stupidity of tyrique.

A2M is a terrible team. Terrible. We beat ourselves because we are a dumb ******* team.

Our other “first rounder”, TVD, - beyond awful. He is not a fit in this offense. An offense that requires you to think. See above.
A2M is hardly a terrible team. You can make a case they're poorly coached, but numerous peoples have stated before this game they have more talent than we have. Additionally, at the end of the day, their current roster will have more people playing in the NFL than our roster.

That’s my point , I’ve been the one guy telling people to pump the brakes on this team. I said we had some front line talent but no depth. We were a minimum of two classes away. I also said this offense is a dramatic change and kids are having issues with it. Imo TVD wasn’t comfortable in it. All this was said the last month. I just know putting guys in tight bunches or playing inside the hashes hurts getting wr’s open. There’s a reason teams that lack talent use air raid concepts, it counteracts the lack of talent by using space. Space with receiver alignments and space with wider splits for the OL. We did nothing last night to help those guys. If you know TVD is a good Rpo guy and more comfortable in a true spread why not mix that into your scheme? That’s what great coaches do. I wasn’t expecting a lot going into last night offensively but I came away disgusted.

This was a 34-17 victory we coached into a 9-17 loss.

All this same stuff was said about Mike Harley until he all of a sudden was put in a position to win match-ups.

These kids can catch and separate but it doesn't happen when they're being forced to work inside the hashes way too much. Pace and space is what TVD does well, thus his WR do well.

They’ve averaged the #5 class in the country over the past four years. There’s a gap of talent there and it showed. We need to stack talent to win.

They will do what they always do 8-4 type year. They’ve looked quite mediocre for three weeks. Their offense is just bad.

Right when Lashlee got there Mike magically was better. Weird. The same fans making excuses we’re calling him garbage and a bust before Rhett lol. There was a lot of “ I can’t wait until he leaves “ posts lol.

Agree, their offense is Achane. This is a game we should’ve won, and I’m interested to see what Gattis does on O to play to our strengths. That being said, we can’t have drops like we did yesterday. Opportunities were there.

Coaching did not lose the game, exactly the opposite. Play calling was fine other than a couple of head scratchers in the RZ. We won the LOS on both sides of the ball. Our offense needs lots of work, but the pieces are there if George can stay out of trouble. Special teams killed us, that is where we lost the game.

Don't forget Rambo. Top 15 WR at Miami. Not in anyway saying Lashlee > than anyone... just saying.
