Interesting discussion over on 247 between Cooper Patagna, who does the transfer portal ratings, and the Miami board. Just to be clear: nothing he said made me any less excited about the pickup. I’m thrilled. I just wanted to pass along his thoughts on Mensah since he’ll likely be our next QB.

Cooper said Mensah will not be the top‑ranked player in the portal. He said that draft scouts he’s spoken with recently have Mensah currently pegged as a Day 2 or early Day 3 pick, though Cooper acknowledged that was the same projection Cam Ward had before his final year at Miami, so things can obviously change. [I personally think he's going to be a Day 1 / early Day 2 pick.]

According to Patagna, the pros are that Mensah is an elite processor, distributes the ball extremely well, plays with great anticipation and throws receivers open, and has strong pocket awareness.

The main knock is that he doesn’t have the strongest arm.
Thats fine, him not being day 1 is main reason he came back.. So thats works out perfect, arm strength as long as adequate is not a big deal, Ill take processing and accuracy any day of week..

This dude is a nobody and I don't even see the tweet. He hates Dabo and I think he was trolling Clemson fanbase. Probably took it down because people were taking it seriously.

Oh he definitely hates Dabo. So does most of their fanbase. Tweets still there. Just sharing it as a joke really because every inkling of smoke says it’s Miami and been Miami.

To you lawyers out there, why does it matter if Duke has his NIL rights? Miami just doesn’t market him, doesn’t mean he can’t play fir
Miami. Obviously Duke want market him but still needs to pay. Feel like it benefits Duke to end the contract

I was gna post something similar. Curious if any of our insiders or maybe lawyers can explain him breaking his contract. Would there be any grounds for duke to sue miami? I know wisconsin did it with miami/lucas and according to some that case got approved for discovery or something. I assumed it was dead

It does and they will. They could legally gum up the works out of spite, but that would ultimately be self defeating. AFAIK Rad and the Duke AD have a good relationship. I anticipate it will get worked out.

Duke going to sell Mensah jerseys?

Cam's impact paved the way for Carson who has now proven that great QB play is the standard. You're entitled to your opinion that Mensah has the tools to be a better QB statistically.

But Beck has taken enough hits from the fanbase and the media. I just want the kid's legacy to be what he deserves and if he wins a championship the only QB's he should be compared to are the ones who have won the ultimate prize.
If beck wins the title hes a top 5 canes qb of all time. Im sorry thats the truth.
