Polendy Out for the Year

Pretty sure most of if not all of his snaps was vs Savannah state

This is bad for depth but he wasn’t an integral part of the offense. There are ways to get around this we just got make adjustments in formation sets and maybe a personnel change.

You can scheme around it. No sense in moving Patchan. We need his depth on the DLine.

In short yardage, they can bring another Olineman in to block.
On passing downs, they can use Mallory/Jordan or possibly Langham as a standup TE (similar to what Iowa used to do) or flex.
Other downs, they can use Choc, Realus or Parrot as an HB offset from the tackle. OU did it a lot with Dimitri Flowers bc Andrews was usually flexed wide.

Got to adjust,
My 2 suggestions
-in the goaline or short yardage situation bring a 6th lineman in as a “tight end” to block. Don’t force the issue here and make it over complicated.
- move langham and have him split out and play the role Mallory is playing out wide instead of taking one of our top 3 receiver spots.
I'd rather have Mallory at the split end position. I don't think working the middle of the field is part of Langham's skillset.

I do agree about the 6th OL. Not even kidding, I would love to see Willis as H-back lead blocker on the goalline like Fridge Perry used to do. Richt needs to get creative somehow. Although the FB dive to Choc has worked so far, I would be surprised if we continue to get that same push once we hit the ACC schedule.

Don't think Langham has the mental makeup for the TE role Polendy was playing (i.e blocking TE with no chance of a catch unless its 56-0 on savannah state). He finally learned how to use his frame to catch passes over DBs 2 feet smaller. Lets not get out of control.

We need to keep Willis in bubble wrap when he's not playing DT. He goes down and we are in big trouble.

I was definitely not expecting this level of rapid-fire responses to the news that FREAKING BRIAN POLENDEY is injured

It hurts the run blocking but luckily we still have our 2 best TE. Most teams start a season with 4 te which we did but we just got unlucky and lost 2 of them. I imagine they will have to move one of our H backs or WR to TE for depth but who knows.

It actually doesn’t as he’s only played 18 snaps and most of that was vs Savannah state.

You can't have Jordan and Mallory take every snap in every practice and every game. Someone will move to TE and my $ is on 6'4 230 lb Langham. Who wants to fight me?

All you idiots saying Patchan should move to TE like last year. Idk if you guys have noticed but Miami is depleted at DE and Patchan has gotten a good amount time in and has been doing solid so far.

It would be smart to move Langham to tight end and split him and Mallory out like they have been doing.
