PODCAST: Miami coming down the stretch for MAJOR 5-star battles

It’s pretty simple. Take away the portal like how it used to be and you would realize how awful this team and program would be.

That tells you everything you need to know about recruiting, roster imbalances, misses, terrible coaching hires and lack of development.

The portal has covered up a ton of warts but don’t be fooled, those worst exist.

I’m hopeful Mario can figure it out and get a competent staff to show some player development or this will never lead to an ACC championship and the playoffs. Mario has another shot this year before the wheels fall off he if he doesn’t make the ACC championship again

As a team recruiting has not been anywhere near consistent. Until that happens we won't be a top 10 team or program.

That's not mopey or slurper that's the truth. Argue for talking points all you want. We might be competitive at some point. Looking at Clemson who is the favorite we would struggle to beat that team 9 of 10 times.
2023 flagship class is a good example

Fletcher is the only offensive skill player that has made an impact

Bain is pretty much the only defensive player to make an impact

It could be argued Emory Williams has been the 4th most impactful recruit from that class (Mauigoa obviously being a beast)

I never said he didn't have success. His top 10 finishes are consistent. 2 things can be true. You're telling me he's consistently recruited every position so that Miami has zero positions of concern?

That's all I was trying to convey. And why it matters, at least in my opinion. We can agree to disagree.

I would rip Kirby the same way with the offensive holes with UGA. You can also see what having a lethal defense every year can do for wins and losses. The defense Miami ran out on the field last year was G5.
You said Miami hasn't recruited consistently. Then you said Clemson would beat us 9 times out of 10. I gave you the stats that show that argument is flawed.

Now you're saying Miami hasn't recruited every position consistently and bringing up UGA as an example of a team that has similarly not recruited every position well... they've won multiple titles and been in the playoff almost every year. They'll likely be in contention again with that flawed roster.

We are likely the most talented team in the ACC. Clemson would be the only equal. You're talking as if we aren't stacked with talent. We are.

Recruiting has been the best that it’s been for a long long while. The issues are as follows though.

That 3 year run while very good is not elite. 24 was the one year you can say was elite. Look we know Mario has his warts as a coach but he is supposed to earn his keep recruiting. While in the aggregate he has done well, again jury is out on elite.

We have been told by multiple reputable posters that we are top 5 if not top 3 NIL wise. Well we need the receipts to match. Still a long way to go but anything short of top 5 is a miss.

Lastly, we have struggled with roster management and balance. Whether it’s CB, LB, S or DT we always are putting out fires. Thank God for the transfer portal here. Still we are in year 4 and the roster while great ACC standards wise is far far away from being elite even on paper.
Meh, a lot of programs have used the portal to put out fires. Look at Texas last year. Mukuba, Golden, Bond, Bolden, Moore. A lot of their DLine depth was portal players.

I will say though we really need Beck healthy and our defense to start playing to its potential. We build on last year I can see a top 5 class. We falter though and some of these hard fought recruiting wins over the Georgia’s might reconsider.

Guys like Scott, Bain, Blount… need to start dominating up front and showing their potential
