Please help me understand - Mario Cristobal

The bottom line is that dumb college football and Miami fans think all you need is a "recruiter" to win at Miami. Despite the fact that every coach who has won big here (not counting Coker) was a well-respected coach in other more important facets of the game.

Schnelly - NFL HC, Don Shula's OC
Jimmy Johnson - NFL HC
Butch Davis - Super Bowl winning DC
Dennis Erickson - NFL HC

We had four coaches in a row go to the NFL at one point. All of these guys were able to bring in great classes but none of these guys got hired to be NFL head coaches because of their ability to sit in a living room and convince a kid to come to Miami. They got hired to be NFL head coaches because they knew how to win football games.

A head coach's "recruiting" ability is pretty far down the list of things to consider. Recruiting success as a head coach is a function of a lot of things, but the most important of all of them is the ability to produce an exciting team that kids actually want to play for. We haven't had that in 12 years and a "recruiter" does not make that happen.

You need to acquire talent. Butch won because he acquired studs. Dennis Erickson won two titles with Jimmy's players but he left the program in shambles.

It comes down to evaluation and selling. The best guys can do both.

And Mario didn't want the only player who literally got him to where he is today because he thought he was too small. Mario is known to be a horrible talent evaluator.

Heard this on the radio
Would anybody be oppose to Cristoble as the HC in waiting. Have Butch groom him to be the future

People only advocate for him because he's supposed to be a phenomenal recruiter in SoFl. He has nothing else going for him.

D$ what are your thoughts on Mario as a HC candidate?

Disagree immensely. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. Unless of course you are Gary Patterson. His chicken sh*t salad is to die for.

If you can't get the right x/o guy, then you go for the recruiter and try again in 4 yrs. You will be good to go.

A Head Coach can recruit by just winning ball games and winning big. You think Saban sits down for every single kid and begs them to come to
Bama? Puhhhlease.

All he has to do is show the record, bowl games and championships.

We can't settle for a **** recruiter and wait to see if we get lucky four years from now for another coach.

Miami needs a winner, point blank.

But one key factor is... He must be able to develop talent too.

Don't need a recruiting specialist head coach. It's also why you have other positions on the staff too.

For you anti Mario guys, would you take Mario if he came in with a DC like Todd Orlando and an up and comer for an OC?

Would you take a punch to the throat if I bought you a cheeseburger after? There's your answer.

Mario Benedict Cristobal is a mere CORCH. Check out some Alabama boards to see what they think of him.

He ****ed up at FIU. No other school even whispers his name as a possibility.

As I wouldn't want a TRAITOR around, he's not fit in any capacity, in Miami.

He's a ZERO, except to his SLURPING POTATOES.

Dont get me wrong, I think Mario is the wrong guy, but if the admin goes with him, would his hire be more palatable with a top notch staff? I question whether or not he can bring a top notch staff, fwiw.

I'd have sooner kept Golden and just hired new coordinators than even entertain the notion of making another corch hire more agreeable.

Well. Here are reasons for Cristobal:

'Bro'
Can switch from English to Spanish mid sentence.
Listens to Pitbull
Same ethnicity as the majority of #CanesFam

This. Golden is actually more accomplished than Mario believe it or not.

Only way Todd Orlando comes here is if Herman is the HC. And to answer your question, **** no!

Well, Mario hired Orlando while he was at FIU and unless Mario and Orlando had a major falling out, why wouldn't Orlando coach for Mario again?
