I think Butch would have done ok. Positives/Negatives with both. Richt can recruit. No doubts about that. I only worry that he won't have that edge needed to get the team over the top. Maybe getting fired will get him the motivation.

Butch wasnt fired for performance. He was fired because of the scandal and all the NCAA stuff going on. So thats a bad analogy. Richt just got fired bc he never won anything important in his 10 plus years at Georgia

the suspensions messed him up his last year. He was obviously trending up before the NCAA stuff started happening. Nobody payed attention to UNC football until Butch got them right. His performace on the football field was obviously not in question.

I admit I wanted Butch, but I am real happy with the hiring of Mark Richt as our new HC.

This administration did a really good job man.

Wasn't who I wanted initially but I didn't think Richt would be in play. Herman is still the guy I wanted but, there's no way you can objectively look at this and say that Richt is anything less than a very good hire.

That was a synchronized effort and they got the guy they wanted and the guy they wanted is more than qualified for the job. I'm so happy man.

For those upset with the hire I'll just say this.
Richt is a very definite upgrade over everything we've had in the last 15 years.
We've gone from Golden to Mark f'in Richt.
Be happy. Be grateful. The curse may have finally been lifted.
