Penn State Coaching Search Disaster

Personally, I would hire Al Golden. What hurt Golden was D'Onfrio and the players he wanted were not in south florida. Golden was really good at evaluating talent. I think his style of coaching fits perfectly up north
It's very possible that he's once bitten, twice shy about becoming a head coach again.

Coaching in college is not for the mentally well-adjusted. Once you've been in the NFL, why would you want to deal with all of the CFB BS?
It's not just that, it the entirety of being at that level. A position coach or even a DC doesn't have to deal with the same level of politics and PR stuff that ahead coach does. It's like way back when I became a manager at a previous job. I was going to meetings I didn't need to be in, handling vacation requests, performance reviews, and HR stuff like hiring. The reason I enjoyed my work disappeared.

One day you are averaging 9-10 wins per year and the next day you’re Nebraska. Be careful out there.
This! Fans and admins always want to get to the next level..... they need to understand that there is also the next level DOWN!
