Penn State Coaching Search Disaster

Penn State fired James Franklin on October 12th not satisfied "only" winning 10 games a year. And yet - they still have no coach. Cignetti, Drinkwitz, and Rhule all signed extensions. They then tried to get the BYU coach, only to be punked by Crumbl. They're apparently looking now at Brian Daboll lol.

Their recruiting class is 135th, they might as well not have a recruiting class.

They've destroyed their program for the foreseeable future.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania needs to fire every administrator who decided to fire Franklin during the season rather than wait until TODAY.

Virginia tech Lucked their way into getting Franklin. If you’re going to fire somebody you better get someone better and I dont see Penn state getting anyone better than Franklin. VT is a team to watch in the next couple years

Karma may not happen quickly, but when it does iit can be a *****. This feels like a Festivus Miracle. Hope this situation gets worse for Pedo St.

Told a friend this yesterday. Sometimes the big guy let's you get your hopes up before gutting you. Pedo St was due some crippling circumstances due to their cultish culture ignoring the rape of children for the sake of their football program. They had one bad year when everybody left, but Butt Chin Obrien turned it around rather quickly. Then Franklin had a pretty good run. They are due to sit in the cellar for a while for what they let happen. And I am here for it

That recruiting class is worse than sanctions for major recruiting violations. They might not even be able to hit the portal if they don't get a coach soon.
Will they be able to field a full team? I’m sure a lot of players will transfer out of there

Penn State lost the top target of its coaching search earlier this week, with BYU head coach Kalani Sitake opting to stay in Provo. The Nittany Lions will also not be hiring Louisville’s Jeff Brohm, who informed his bosses on Wednesday of his intentions to stay with the Cardinals.

Sources have told On3 that, throughout the day on Wednesday, there has been a groundswell from high-level donors pushing for athletic director Pat Kraft to hire interim head coach Terry Smith. He orchestrated the signing of former Auburn quarterback commit Peyton Falzone with Penn State on National Signing Day. And he closed out the regular season with three consecutive wins to get the Nittany Lions to bowl eligibility.

Outside of Smith, the name that continues to come up the most at Penn State is former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll. He’s a former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator, working for Terry Pegula’s franchise, who is a Penn State alum. Duke’s Manny Diaz and Iowa State’s Matt Campbell were other names initially mentioned at the beginning of the search. Army’s Jeff Monken has also popped up in conversations.

Update on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:20 a.m. CT: Sources tell On3 that Iowa State’s Matt Campbell and Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley are at least names to know.

They couldn't use a better picture?

The guy looks dejected as a result of his future career path forever being limited as a result of this "promotion"

I think they had a plan, and it was Matt Rhule (which in and of itself is hilarious), and they ****ed it up.

One thing that I think is very interesting about this coaching carousel is that so many coaches are finally wising up to the fact that being respected and having a long rope at a program like Mizzou or Georgia Tech is actually a much better gig than most of these jobs that come open. If you get a shot at a no doubter Top 5 job (LSU, Bama, Ohio State, etc) you jump at it, but otherwise, most of the time the smart play is to just keep doing what you're doing.
