Penn State Coaching Search Disaster

Personally, I would hire Al Golden. What hurt Golden was D'Onfrio and the players he wanted were not in south florida. Golden was really good at evaluating talent. I think his style of coaching fits perfectly up north
It's very possible that he's once bitten, twice shy about becoming a head coach again.

Coaching in college is not for the mentally well-adjusted. Once you've been in the NFL, why would you want to deal with all of the CFB BS?
It's not just that, it the entirety of being at that level. A position coach or even a DC doesn't have to deal with the same level of politics and PR stuff that ahead coach does. It's like way back when I became a manager at a previous job. I was going to meetings I didn't need to be in, handling vacation requests, performance reviews, and HR stuff like hiring. The reason I enjoyed my work disappeared.
