Dj johnson will not play dt. He is only 240. Why the **** yall keep saying that?
It's a cis obsession . Make wr /te, te/ol, s/lb, lb/de and de/DT. Since JJ did in the 80's we should do it with anybody that's actually carrying nice size for the position.
RJ McIntosh, Winston, Njoku, Winslow, Najeh Davenport, Allen Bailey, and more. It's always an option to explore, especially since we are loaded at DE and paper thin at DT after next year.
Yes , it is but not every recruit or player on the roster. Any wr that's over 6'2 200 automatically is mentionioned as a te , or bigger safety a lb. It's almost comical , there's always the rare chance it happens and a guy is capable of it. But it's not as common as some make it.
Like RJ, he was a five technique. We don't need him there so the normal progression is to slide inside to a three technique. That's nowhere the same as sliding a 4-3 de inside , especially if that's his natural position. RJ was going to be in the 285-290 range regardless, he didn't need fattened up to make that switch. It was natural.
There's nothing about Bethels body , or frame that says DT imo. Then there's the whole " can he actually play that position or even want to do it". That's the part most are forgetting , can the guy actually play that spot ? Not just throw some peanut butter sammiches at a guy and say " you're a DT now".
