He wasn't just his HS coach. Campbell straight up says that Rumph is his mentor and like family to him.

If rump is like family....and IF,. Ty has little to no interest in being here,..Why in Gods name, would Rumph try to convince him to do something he doesn't want to do? IF..this is the case! STOP trying to blame people, for a young man who may have his own ideas about his life!!

An Epic failure here, would be a young man spending 3-4 yrs, at a place he never truly wanted to be, so he could appease a bunch of selfish adults! JMO
 
Idc what Pete or Rattler say, the kid hasn't shown anything that would lead me to believe he's interested in being s Cane. If you are one of these people that believe this is just a diversion, I can assure you that's pretty much never a thing. Kids visit where they are interested. They talk about the teams they are interested in. What has he done to make you think he's interested other tha have a cousin and Pete come on here and tell us to chill out. Every year there are 1 or 2 recruits that our insiders feel confident about despite a kids actions. This is probably that kid.

I agree that this probably isn't a diversion but I think it probably happens more often than we know or think. I know Blades is a different story all together but didn't he go to Tennessee days before he committed?

Yes, but the key difference there outside of the obvious is that Blades was on campus a ton. He talked about us. He camped with us. He made an effort to be around coaches and players. He acted like he was interested in Miami the entire time. Campbell doesn't really do that.
 
What's up with some posts needing to be reviewed by a mod and some not?

Anyhow, I agree [MENTION=3898]jmccomber5[/MENTION] but kids handle their recruitment differently. We know Miami is in it but you'd think he'd put more time on campus. I'm in Idaho and couldn't be any further from the situation but I think he ends up at the U. If he doesn't have any interest why even list Miami? Usually Pete's silence is a good thing - maybe just wishful thinking.

This! Usually you can see some action from the recruit that shows you there's interest.
Doesn't seem like that's the case here.
 
Ima be real.... you can make a canetears thread too with the way some of you whine about tyson campbell. Just chill it will all play itself out...

Very relaxed. As it stand we have an excellent DB class IMO.
Having Campbell in it would put it over the top.
Now things change in recruiting all the time and things might look differently later but at this moment it doesn't seem like things are trending our way with him. Missing our signature recruiting event is not a great look for signing a local kid.
 
The Gators Tears thread is legendary, but if rival fans made one based on this site it'd be epic too.

Why is Surtain's recruitment any different than Campbell's?

It seems no one even cares that he's not considering the Canes. Rumph was his coach as well.

I guess Pete got it wrong. He earned a pass since he is mostly right. However, last time I doubted him we got "listen to your boy," and the commitment so... this could be a little different though. I think we are the only major program that can't get 5 star recruits in our own backyard to take visits or show interest in us. Very odd.
