Pac 12 Players Asking for 50% of revenue to play this year

Man some of you are grossly underestimating the power these kids have right now.

A single complaint from any kid has coaches groveling for forgiveness as they sign up for classes on sensitivity. Multiply that times 30 kids per school screaming exploitation and financial abuse and see what happens.

Until now players as a whole just shut their mouths and just played. Those days are over.

If you’re so simple you think kicking the them off and replacing them won’t make the problem exponentially worse, you must have just woken up from a coma.

But only to a point. Look at UM in the 70's. They were all set to drop football. There was no great concern that they university would collapse or people would stop attending. Football exists at most colleges as long as it helps pay the bills for other sports and isn't too much of a headache.

Once you see a coach sue a university for 50 or 60 million dollars and loss of future earnings for wrongful termination in a real court, not a campus kangeroo court, you'll be less awed by the power of these kids . . . Oh, and what should the cut of the revenues for the coaches be . . . ?

Your absolutely right.

Let's take it another step further. What would happen if in the national championship game, both teams refused to play unless financial terms were met for all of the players in all of the conferences.

Some here are acting as if players are paid they will not get scholarships.

As much as some may hate it, the players will still get scholarships because it is in the schools interest to still get the best teams possible.

The thought of an overpaid coach suing the University for loss of income when he makes 2X to 10X more than the University President is hilarious. They'd be laughed out of court.

Will some colleges drop out because they cannot be as profitable? Sure. , but the vast majority will remain and BIGTIME College sports will continue undeterred.

The loss of the smallest entities like the Wagners and Elon's will not curtail Universities from continuing to ride this huge fat gravy train.

The reduction of unnecessary and misguided appendages (ncaa) that do not add value to collegiate sports will be the primary victims

“There is no better example of NCAA sports’ racial exploitation,” Ramogi Huma, executive director of the would-be college athlete union, the National College Players Association, said last week, “than colleges marching their football players into the covid-19 pandemic without the enforcement of any health and safety standards in pursuit of football revenue that players themselves will never see.”

This doesn’t sound like a covid issue. This sounds like a basic dislike of college football’s financial design. If kids don’t like the system to a fundamental level, they should definitely opt to leave. Good for them. The schools can then either pay em to come back or get a different set of kids who are okay with a scholarship.

Neither do the buffoons running the NCAA and athletic departments. They've wasted billons of dollars on bull**** fancy locker rooms, athletic vilages and massive guaranteed contracts for ****** coaches who they then fire. Only to pay another's obscene buyout so that coach can produce the same exact result the guy they fired did.

All to maintain the ridiculous facade of shamateurism, instead of thinking progressively as athletics changed as the unspeakably large dollars started pouring in. They just sat there like hogs feeding at the trough without a single thought towards the future.

Well the future has been forced down their throat and they're broke and have no cards to play.

They are getting what they deserve.
I hope the players get EVERY FUQIN' DIME

LOL. yeah i bet a recruit reading this board right now can really feel that the fans of UM really care about the players
Dude a scholarship at the U is worth well over 300k. Every other student in the country that wasn't born into wealth, has to take on debt for their education and expenses. This debt in many cases, inhibits their ability to buy a home, start a family and save for retirement.
These athletes play a game and if they don't make millions in the NFL, walk out with a valuable degree and zero debt. But but but.....I need to get paid! LMAO

You think no one has screamed exploitation and financial abuse before? Nw tried to form a union and it went to court. And apologizing for using the wrong word or wearing the wrong t shirt in these political times is a little different than uprooting and changing an entire system, or figuring out how to pay thousands of college athletes while following title ix
