The state of Florida no longer produces elite talent, except DBs and WR’s and it’s having a major impact on Miami, and the big 3 in the state. Does the State produce elite DBs and WRs? Yes, but not much else.
If you’re looking for other talented players, my view posits that the State of Florida is mediocre at producing talent, which is impacting Miami as much as the bad coaching. Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, California, the Washington DMV area, Ohio and Louisiana have all surpassed the state of Florida when producing other high level talent.
And before anyone questions South Carolina, that state has produced a ridiculous amount of NFL talent the past 10 years and Clemson’s roster is filled with Carolina talent.
Does FL produce elite Olineman? Nope
Dline? Nope
TEs? Nope
QBs? Negative
Linebackers? Ehhh...but, I’ll also say no, here. There are few, if any recent standouts
Kickers? **** nah
RBs? Ehhh. In the last 10 years there have been only 3 elite RBs that have produced at a consistent high level: Dalvin Cook, Davonta Freeman and Duke Johnson. And only 2 are doing anything noteworthy in the NFL: Cook and Freeman.
Where am I going with this? The strategy of “building a fence” around South Florida to recruit, and recruiting the state of a Florida to make up the core of the team, is flawed because the State no longer produces great players outside of DBs and WRs. Time to expand the operation
