Our scholarship distribution is messy

At his post signing day press conference, Manny said that one of the reasons he was using the transfer portal so much was to balance out the classes...get some more age and experience on the team...

Personally, I think it would have been easier to just put Betty White on scholarship

The other side of the coin is.........we can get the Class, but it is all predicated on success as to how they contribute immediately, or need seasoning.
Not every year will we have a McLeod, SQ, and Pinckney... coming in and playing immediately.

13 seniors
12 juniors
29 sophomores
25 freshmen

gonna have to take some small classes this next two years unless guys start transferring out.
It's 14, 12, 30, 25 actually. I'll assume you forgot Jimmy Butler (walk on senior safety), and Clay James (Walk on sophomore long snapper) who were recently awarded scholarships.
Right now the max we would be able to take in 2020 if nobody left early or declared for the draft is 18.

But there is literally no way AT LEAST one qb doesn't leave, more likely 2 will. Jeff Thomas and Garvin are probably guaranteed to declare early. Then you add in guys that just have no hope at PT like Dykstra, Few (could turn getting a scholarship here into transfering to a smaller school and getting PT), Polendey, Tyreic Martin, and probably some others. And you got at least 6 or so that will be leaving early that you can add to the 18 we'd already have. That would make a full class essentially.

Slowly we are getting a better distribution. The season after next might be the first time in like a decade we actually have more than 15 Seniors on the team. Ideally we'd have a breakdown of something like 18, 20, 22, 25

The flip side to this would be having an upperclassman laden team that just went 7-6. That'd be more of a concern for me than where we currently are (imo)- decent QB play away from being a 10+ win team with a roster full of underclassmen.

2017 and 2018 were great hauls featuring several top flight players but 2019 should not be overlooked. While 1/3 of the 25 incoming players are transfers -- that still makes 3 consecutive cycles of enjoying a significant talent influx. The rooster is as healthy as it's been since about 2013 imo.

Hopefully last season's 7-6 record left a bad taste in our young sophomores and freshmen like 98 &99 did to those players.we have some good talented sophomores and freshmen going forward we will be ok.

They can't wait until they're seniors and tell the freshmen, "Sure we won the championship last year, but when we started....".
