It's said, true enough.

But there are plenty of other countries in the world that are not as religious (real religious or fake religious) as the US, and those countries don't have nearly the same issues that we do.
All those countries have something in common that the US doesn’t have. It’s clear to see but what it indicates makes people uncomfortable.

Strict immigration laws?
A 1st language other than English?
Limited free speech?
Less chain food restaurants?

I mean 1930’s thru 1940’s Germany, post WWII China and Cold War Russia had one of the lowest civilian on civilian gun violence rates in history, but not sure any of us would have wanted to live there. Just sayin….

You’re almost there brother…

Mental health is a big issue in most of these incidents.
I grew up with people who had guns for hunting, self-defense or simply for collection and I never recalled these sort of incidents, especially these mass shootings of people that did not do wrong.
I would estimate we spend billions upon billions on security for government officials, government buildings, etc. But everyday we send our kids, especially high school and below, into what might as well be a coffin should someone choose to take action. It's a shame.

Apparently they haven’t released a lot of the students yet.

I have a cousin that was in the Bellamy building when the shooting went down, now they’ve corralled them all into the Civic Center last I heard. I was just happy that I got a text saying he was OK.

But I was told pretty much it’s over and has been for a while. Now they just have do the investigations and law-enforcement has to clear all the buildings
Glad to hear your cousin is safe.

Maudes can delete this if they’d like, this info isn’t public yet but I don’t think it’s insensitive to post and it’s relevant possibly to some here. The family has been notified, but one of the victims who passed away was named Robert Morales.

I didn’t know Robert personally, but as I mentioned I was in Tallahassee for 21 years and it really is an incredibly small town, so I know several folks who did know him. I was told he was a MASSIVE Canes fan, he was born or at least grew up in Miami. I found his brother’s twitter, and he’s followed by several Canes accounts (including Brad Kaaya), so I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you knew him, or honestly even if he posted here.

Again, if this is insensitive in any way, go ahead and delete. I don’t think it is, but I’m not good at this sort of thing. Just trying to pay respects to what I’ve been told was a really good man and someone who loved his Canes.

RIP Robert Morales.

And as expected, the Gov of Florida posted on X that he was sending his “prayers to…”. Every time I hear that same useless phrase in the context of people being murdered it drives me insane. When that is all the elected leaders can or will do, that tells me that either; a. Nothing can be done about mass shootings so lets just accept it as a fact of life, or b. Our political leaders have their hands in too many special interest pockets to do anything. In either case, when I hear the same useless words from a political leaders and zero action, I believe the next action is to remove that leader at the next election and demand more from the next. And I couldn’t care less about party affiliation.

Either do something about it, or get out. As to what to do, that is the debate, but the debate must be had outside of special interests groups. But I do agree with the Michigan case that held the parents responsible because not knowing that your child is so f*cking crazy as to commit mass murder should be a crime, especially when you buy him the weapon as they did. It is obviously trickier with a 20 year old but again, if that was my son, I would know if he was that crazy and I d*mn well would not let him have access to my gun. And that is doubly true if I was in law enforcement.

How about we pass a law that if you go into a school and shoot innocent people, your immediately family will face a firing squad. These selfish ***** would be a lot less likely to go and kill innocent people knowing their family would face the same fate

My wife’s nephew was on campus. He’s safe but his description of what he saw and heard is terrifying.

Looks like the brother who posted is a writer of crime books who has book coming out this year.
What a cruel irony.

Me either but like I said, his name has not been released by the police. I’m sure it will be very soon. I know for a fact his wife is aware, obviously his brother is by his tweet. So most, if not all, of his family should be notified by now. I just thought I’d share since there’s a chance some of you might know him or his brother. There is very much a Miami connection.

Mass shootings is a problem that is 100% multifactorial, & cannot be attributed to mental health alone.

Agree that there are many factors leading to mass shootings, but all people who do this have something wrong with them insofar that is not normal to kill innocent people and, no, I am not
making excuses for the mass murderers. If anything, they don't deserve to breathe air.
