OT: Enjoy Oklahoma, Jalen Hurts.

I respect and love all of you regardless of political party or ideology. We all want the same thing, which is the Miami hurricanes winning football games at a high rate.
@tetragrammaton-cane, respecting and loving everybody is dumb huh. You must be that other dudes boyfriend because you keep negging everyone for not agreeing with his bull****

Now this is a thread that I'm fairly certain I can derail without the mods "infracting" me.

I grew up in Miami. It was great. The people were not. There are a lot of great things about Miami - the quality of human interaction is not one of them. In this case, by any objective standard, the “****** people” award easily goes to Miami. Most people in the Norman/OKC/Edmond area would go way out of their way to do a stranger a favor. The fact that this is big news coming out of a metro area with over a million people speaks to the expectations and standards of the area. ****** people doing ****** things wouldn’t be noteworthy on the smallest of Miami outlets because that is pretty much the norm.

Has nothing to do with the city. It has everything to do with the overall cultural and tolerance level for racism on the college campus. I know there are a lot of right-wingers on this website, but UM is a very liberal and culturally diverse campus.

State schools in hick states? Yeah, not as much.

Lmao at you calling “right wingers” racist.

In the year 2018, the left is far more concerned with race in this country than the right. I love Miami as a city but I find it hilarious when people from down there refer to other parts of America as backwoods etc. I guess diversity is ok only if you lean different kinds of left. The right cares that people take ownership of their own behavior, wants the government to leave individuals alone, and thinks that if you’re born with certain parts between your legs then your gender is decided and not up for debate. Is that controversial?

.

It's not "history". History is written by the victors, not the losers.

How many **** "memorials" will you find in Germany? How many Facist "memorials" will you find in Italy?

We are the only pvssy nation in the world that let the losers erect a bunch of cheap monuments to themselves.

There is plenty of history. Battlefields all across the east coast.

The "monuments" were erected 50 years later to taunt the blacks who still lived in the South. That's the truth.

That’s simply not true. So you’re telling me for example ill go back to using UNC. Why isnitnall of the sudden controversial now, that KKK members have there names on buildings there bc they donated that money? That name doesn’t do anything to those students or teachers. Neither did that Silent Sam statue. It’s all for show.

Schools are erasing history bc they’d rather pander to their leftist student body and faculty. If it’s that big of an issue they should repay that money to the family and cut all ties. But of course, that’ll never happen

Lmao at you calling “right wingers” racist.

Also, OU’s long time president and legendary Oklahoman, David Boren, was a democratic governor and senator.

And here are the actual diversity metrics comparing OU to UM. It’s relatively close, but OU’s student population should not be more diverse than UM’s, and it is:

Does it really bother you when re-reading your post (because I’m sure you are the type to do that) that you misspelled simple words like another, used the wrong form of “our” and had at least 3 run-on sentences?

Not really, wrote drunk at a hotel on Biscayne Blvd this AM. Knowing that I can produce that on a phone, blurry eyed, and smelling of day old vodka and wet cocaine on my upper lip actually makes me feel rather superior to you and every other beta ***aloon here. I commend myself. I use words on a two day bender that you need a dictionary for, I am a certified savage.

Who's to say a "right winger" is a racist? I'm more conservative than I used to be but I used to work in civil rights and marched with MLK's deputy and successor, Rev. Ralph Abernathy. I also worked on human rights issues with one of the greatest civil rights leaders in American history, Bayard Rustin. Bayard was the strategist who suggested MLK go to march in Selma and it was Bayard and some of our mutual close associates who organized the 1963 March on Washington. I did not participate in that activity because I came along later and my involvement with Bayard was in the '70's.

You can be a conservative politically and not be a racist and can still support equal rights. Conservatism is not tantamount to racism. Conservatism for me means a strong national defense and lower taxes and some other things, but not racism.

I don't want to say any more because I've already been warned about posting about politics but your statement is so inaccurate that it requires a response.

Sorry Still don't know what he means about a lot of right wingers on this site
He has no idea what he's talking about. I was a pretty sophisticated leftwinger at one time. Until I saw how much hate there was on the left, including anti-Semitism. Look at the furor over the women's march and the supporters who are anti-****** and support Farrakhan, who is as bad a bigot as anybody on the alt-Right.

By the way, the University of Miami football program has its own sad history of bigotry. in the late 1970's, two players, I believe Larry Pfohl and the guy named Pokorney were involved in throwing an Orthodox *** into the lake on campus. Many thought it was a clear-cut case of religious harassment. When somebody asked Lou Saban about it, he said, "Sounds like good fun to me." I give Lou Saban the benefit of the doubt because I don't think he knew the details of the incident. I believe he later apologized. I don't recall what discipline, if any was meted out to Pokorney and Pfohl. Pfohl later became the professional wrestler, I guess Lex Luger or something like that.

Our football program was also a little ahead of some other southern schools in integrating its football program. Ray Bellamy came in a little before FSU (Calvin Patterson) and UF (don't remember the player).

I have had the good fortune of living in Alabama. I lived in Auburn country. Did I experience racism? Yeah I did. We were the only Latinos in that hick *** town. But we also met kind people. Back when I did the activist social justice life, I went to every state on the eastern sea board, all of New England and all of the SEC. You know what I met? Mostly decent good people that didn’t know how to contextualize how they felt. They lacked having someone on a college campus that could publish studies, and books of the rural population. And if those do studies and books do exist they are not promoted through the media as it’s not something people want to talk about. So what happens, someone starts speaking to their issues and they fervently believe that they could change things. We don’t succeed as a society by calling these people bigots or racists. Much like kids in the inner city who fall to a life of crime, these people fall to a life poverty and ignorance.

I used to read a lot of Marx. And I actually recommend it for both sides. For once you get to see for yourself what Marx meant about building a perfect world. But you also get to see how impractical it is. Marx believed that the history of the world is the history of class warfare. There’s a Thesis which is an idea that creates a movement/government. There’s an Anti-Thesis which is a group that fights against the government to bring about a revolution. And then there’s the Synthesis, once the revolution comes they start oppressing people giving rise for the need of a new revolution. In short the oppressed become oppressors. As you can see by the leadership of the woman’s march they got a bit of power and now want to exclude and talk down to white and ****** women. I saw it at meetings blacks and Latinos openly blaming white allies for everything. It’s a sick world we live in and the best we can do is to work on ourselves and watch some CANES football

Miami racism is a bit different. The blacks are completely segregated so unless you seek trouble it's not likely you'll find any black/white tension. It's the Cubans who treat a person like dirt if they don't speak Spanish or listen to reggaeton.
