OT Darius Washington

We recruited him much earlier and made him priority.

We had him on campus for TWO official visits.

We are the hottest team in the country thanks to the portal.

FSU offered just before singing day clearly showing he was a plan C kid.

They just insulted MLK and made headlines for it.

They have more kids leaving from the portal than coming.

Someone tell me how the f*ck this kid could choose FSU?

we do but lets not act like is 0 talent at oline here Herbert/Hillary/Gaynor/campbell/Donaldson/kennedy/Scaife/reed most of them highly rated or in kennedy case a grad transfer who was on all conference team and probably is our lt. talent is there on oline we have putrid coaching who didn't know how to use the players he had
Our issue has been finding a true LT. That is what threw us off last year

Our issue has been playing musical chairs with sloppy OLinemen.

You don't need an NFL LT to run a competent offence in college, but you do need 5 decent guys to gel as a unit. Richt never gave them that opportunity.
No but you need an LT, and we didn't have one. Without an LT everyone got bumped to the point where it threw everything else off. St Louis was a decent RT but not an LT. Donaldson was and isn't a Tackle

its part of it. can campbell/Herbert be that time will tell I will say alto of teams there oline sits for at least 2 yrs. the elite start as freshman sometimes for schools but its rare. Miami had 0 tackles when richt took over but no one wanted to listen searles didn't help matter with his coaching but fact is guys like Donaldson Scaife forced to play early due to no other options and guys like campbell/herber/Hillary/Gaynor/reed weren't ready to start as true or rs freshman

OV'ing to FSU this weekend. MSU guy says that Miami is still the biggest threat.

Seen conflicting things on this OV breakdown. You can revisit a school with a coaching change like ours, but does it count towards your 5 OVs? This is Washington's 6th OV, so I'm guessing that you can.

It does count toward the 5.

funny how this works out. We offer hometown kid in Maurice Smith at the last minute and he tells us to kick rocks for FSU. Now home team FSU offers Washington at the last min and he is getting CB's there.
Smith isn’t Washington. You’re juxtaposing their choices as if these two anecdotes are representative something inherent and negative about local kids. I don’t think that is a fair analogy or inference. UM has been a train wreck for ages. Smith was an obvious local kid we ignored for the whole cycle. Searels was a disaster. Richt was. They went with Clark. Whatever. It’s normal for local kids to move on when UM ignores them. We need to offer a better opportunity to local kids and recruit them better rather than expect they will just be there like a fwb when we stumble around to calling them.

Washington lives 200 miles from Tallahassee. They have a new OC, focused on him, and maybe he’ll want to go there, maybe not. We’ll see. It is not a critique of Smith if Washington picks FSU.

Miami fans complain too much about local kids, IMO. Take the good with the bad. There is a reason Miami kids are recruited by most major programs. There’s also a consequence.

Focused on him? They've literally been after 15 different tackles before they offered him they haven't been focused on ****

Typical spiel right here. People love making excuses for the weak is that is done

True and not true. We didn’t want smith once Clark committed. I would say DJ Williams the RB would be a better example this cycle. Did he end up at auburn?
